Summary

This 2016 Lexus IS300 is a compelling choice for buyers seeking the legendary reliability of a Japanese luxury sedan without the steep price tag of a newer model. While the mileage reflects its history as a dependable highway cruiser, its white exterior remains the most sought-after color in the GCC market, ensuring strong resale interest and excellent heat reflection. This specific AWD trim provides superior stability and a more powerful 3.5L engine compared to base models, making it perfectly suited for the fast-paced traffic of the UAE's multi-lane highways. Unlike many of its European competitors, this Lexus is built to withstand the extreme temperatures of the region with an air conditioning system that remains peerless in its cooling efficiency. For a buyer looking for a premium executive experience that won't break the bank on maintenance, this listing represents a very sensible and prestigious entry point into the Lexus family. The most important consideration for a GCC buyer here is the bulletproof nature of the 3.5L V6, which is known to comfortably exceed these mileage figures when maintained correctly.

This Car vs Other 2016 IS300s

At 231,000 km, this IS300 has been driven approximately 28,000 km per year, which is slightly above the typical GCC average but common for executive sedans used for inter-city commutes between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. This higher mileage is offset by the vehicle's white exterior, which is the gold standard for resale value in the region as it keeps the cabin cooler and hides fine desert dust better than darker shades. When compared to other 2016 models on the market, this unit stands out because it features the more robust 3.5L engine rather than the smaller turbocharged options often found in lower-mileage examples. Buyers in the UAE often prefer these naturally aspirated V6 engines for their long-term durability and smoother power delivery in high-heat conditions. Choosing this specific car means benefiting from a well-traveled, highway-proven engine that has already navigated the steepest part of its depreciation curve, making it a financially clever acquisition.

AWD vs Lower Trims

The AWD trim is a significant step up from the base rear-wheel-drive or smaller engine variants, primarily because it houses the 3.5L V6 engine which provides much more confident overtaking power on the E11. Beyond the drivetrain, this trim level typically includes the premium Lexus Enform infotainment suite and upgraded interior materials that feel considerably more luxurious than the entry-level fabric or lower-grade NuLuxe finishes. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the enhanced climate control logic and the likely inclusion of seat ventilation, a feature that becomes a daily necessity during the long summer months. The audio system in this trim is also a notable upgrade, offering crystal clear sound that remains undistorted even at higher volumes, which is perfect for long desert drives. Furthermore, the aesthetic package on this trim includes more aggressive styling cues and premium alloy wheels that give it a much more commanding presence on the road than a standard base model.

IS300 vs Segment Rivals

The Lexus IS300 competes directly with the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, but it holds a distinct advantage in the GCC when it comes to long-term ownership peace of mind. While the German rivals might offer slightly different tech interfaces, the IS300 is widely regarded as having the most durable interior components that don't rattle or degrade under the intense UAE sun. The cooling system in the Lexus is specifically designed to reach 'arctic' temperatures much faster than its European counterparts, a critical factor for anyone stuck in Riyadh or Dubai midday traffic. Additionally, the IS300 offers a more compliant and comfortable ride over the occasional uneven road surface or speed humps found in residential communities compared to the stiffer suspension setups of its rivals. Its fuel tank capacity is generous for its class, allowing for fewer stops on long-distance trips across the Emirates or over the border to Oman.

Running Costs & Resale

Running a 3.5L Lexus in the GCC is surprisingly affordable because parts are widely available and service expertise is found in every major city from Kuwait to Muscat. In real-world GCC conditions, you can expect the V6 to deliver steady fuel economy on the highway, while city driving in heavy traffic will see a predictable increase in consumption; it remains efficient for its size and requires standard premium fuel available at any ADNOC or Enoc station. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and because this is a Lexus, the cost of these services is significantly lower than that of equivalent European luxury brands. Historically, the IS300 retains its value better than almost any other sedan in its segment, with an annual depreciation rate of only about 8-10% in the UAE market. This means that even after another two years of use, the resale value will remain remarkably stable, protecting your initial investment far better than a comparable German sedan would.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this IS300 is the 3.5L V6 engine, which produces a smooth and linear power delivery that is ideal for the fast-paced highway driving typical of the GCC. With a 0-100 km/h time that remains competitive in the modern market, it offers plenty of punch for merging into 140 km/h traffic lanes with ease. The automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, ensuring that gear changes are almost imperceptible during a relaxed cruise but responsive when you need to kick down for a quick pass. The All-Wheel Drive system provides an extra layer of security, offering superior grip during the rare but heavy rainstorms that can make Gulf roads slippery, as well as better stability on sand-dusted asphalt. Even with its sporty intentions, the ground clearance is perfectly suited for city life, handling the various gradients and transitions of urban parking structures without concern. It is a car that feels planted at high speeds, providing the driver with a sense of total control and refinement.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside the IS300, you are greeted by a cabin that prioritizes ergonomics and high-quality tactile surfaces, designed to accommodate five passengers in quiet comfort. The air conditioning is a standout feature, engineered to handle 50°C heat with ease while maintaining a whisper-quiet operation in the cabin. The seats are designed for long-distance support, meaning you can drive from Dubai to Fujairah and arrive feeling refreshed rather than fatigued. Sound insulation is excellent, effectively filtering out the roar of wind and tires at highway speeds, which allows the premium audio system to truly shine. For the driver, the cockpit is wrapped around you, with all controls within easy reach, while rear passengers enjoy dedicated cooling vents to ensure everyone stays comfortable regardless of the outside temperature. The boot space is surprisingly deep, easily accommodating several large suitcases or a full week's worth of family groceries.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the Lexus brand, and this 2016 IS300 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems to protect all occupants. It features a sophisticated stability control system that is particularly useful on the sandy or oil-slicked roads often encountered in the region. Multiple airbags, including knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, provide a safety cocoon that has earned this model high marks in international crash testing. For long highway journeys across the desert, the cruise control and clear instrumentation help reduce driver fatigue, while the powerful HID or LED headlamps provide excellent visibility during night drives on unlit rural roads. The blind-spot monitoring is a vital tool for navigating the heavy, fast-moving traffic of the UAE's major arteries, providing an extra set of eyes when changing lanes. This car offers the kind of structural integrity and safety technology that gives a family total peace of mind.

The bottom line

This Lexus IS300 is the perfect match for a pragmatic professional or a small family who wants a prestigious badge and V6 power without the high maintenance costs of a European car. It represents an incredible value-for-money opportunity to own a reliable, high-spec luxury sedan that is perfectly acclimated to the demanding GCC climate.
