Summary

This GCC-spec Mercedes-Benz CLA250 offers a compelling entry into the luxury sedan segment with its distinct coupe-like profile and silver-grey finish, which remains a high-demand color for resale in the local market. With 120,000 km over 10 years, it has been driven roughly 12,000 km per year—well below the GCC average of 20,000+ km—suggesting a life of lighter use than many comparable regional listings. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system provides superior grip on sand-dusted highways and during the rare but heavy winter rains. Compared to rivals, the CLA stands out for its aerodynamic efficiency and aggressive styling that still looks modern today. For a GCC buyer, this represents a well-maintained European sedan that balances brand prestige with manageable running costs.

This Car vs Other 2016 CLA250s

At 120,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is significantly lower than the 200,000+ km typically expected for a 10-year-old car in the UAE and wider GCC. This lower usage often translates to less wear on cooling systems and suspension components, which are heavily stressed by the regional heat. The Grey exterior is a top-tier resale color in the region, offering better heat reflection than black while maintaining higher market liquidly than bolder colors.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

While labeled as the Standard trim in some markets, the GCC-spec CLA250 typically includes essential regional upgrades like a high-output air conditioning system and 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. This trim provides the 208 hp turbocharged engine and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, which are significant performance steps above the entry-level CLA200 found in other markets. It also features the 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission, offering faster shifts and better highway fuel economy.

CLA250 vs Segment Rivals

The CLA250 is frequently cross-shopped with the Audi A3 and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. It leads the segment in aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient as low as 0.29, which helps with cabin quietness during high-speed highway cruising between Emirates. Its 470-liter boot space is also more generous than many compact executive rivals, making it more practical for small families or weekend trips.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 4MATIC model averages around 8.6 L/100km combined, performing efficiently on long highway stretches like the E11. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km or 12 months, with an extensive network of authorized Mercedes-Benz centers and specialized European car garages available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While European luxury sedans depreciate faster than Japanese alternatives, the CLA250 maintains a steady following in the used market due to its iconic styling and accessible entry price.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers 208 hp and a robust 350 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.5 seconds. This performance is particularly useful for confident overtaking on fast-moving GCC motorways. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system continuously monitors traction, providing stability on greasy surfaces after a sandstorm or during sudden heavy downpours. With a top speed of 240 km/h, it offers a composed and planted feel even at the upper limits of regional legal speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, you will find a 5-seat layout with sport-contoured front seats that provide excellent support during longer drives. The GCC-specific climate control is designed to reach comfortable temperatures quickly, even after the car has been parked in direct sun. Standard features include the central media display and Bluetooth connectivity, while the cabin's insulation effectively minimizes road noise. Rear cooling vents ensure that passengers stay comfortable during the peak summer months.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the Mercedes-Benz brand, and this CLA250 comes equipped with Attention Assist to detect driver fatigue on long desert drives and Collision Prevention Assist Plus. Standard safety gear includes a comprehensive 7-airbag system and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) tuned for high-speed stability. The 4MATIC system further enhances safety by providing superior mechanical grip compared to front-wheel-drive competitors.

The bottom line

This CLA250 is an ideal match for a young professional or a style-conscious commuter looking for a low-mileage European sedan that has survived the GCC climate in excellent health. Its combination of 4MATIC stability and a strong service network makes it a safer, smarter bet than many higher-mileage alternatives.
