Summary

This 2016 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG represents a standout opportunity to own the final evolution of the iconic W463 generation before its modern redesign. Finished in white, the strongest resale color in the GCC market, it remains highly desirable for local buyers who value the classic, boxy silhouette. Despite its high mileage, the G63 is engineered for the durability required to handle long-distance highway commutes across the Emirates and beyond. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is fully optimized for extreme summer heat, featuring high-capacity cooling systems and a robust service network. This remains the definitive choice for those seeking a status-symbol SUV that offers genuine off-road hardware alongside massive V8 performance.

This Car vs Other 2016 G63 AMGs

With 248,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the average GCC listing of the same year, reflecting a life of consistent highway use rather than short city trips. While the mileage is higher than typical weekend-only examples, these hand-built AMG engines are known for their mechanical longevity when maintained properly. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the UAE, as it minimizes heat absorption and holds its value better than nearly any other color at resale.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the top-tier AMG variant for 2016, this model adds the high-performance 5.5L bi-turbo V8 engine, replacing the 4.0L found in the G500. It features the signature side-exit exhaust system and AMG-specific body styling that GCC buyers specifically search for. Inside, it upgrades the experience with designo leather upholstery, a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system, and a more aggressive AMG instrument cluster not found on lower trims.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 stands apart from rivals like the Range Rover SVR and Porsche Cayenne Turbo by utilizing a traditional body-on-frame construction and three independent locking differentials. This hardware ensures superior durability in soft sand conditions during desert weekends compared to its monocoque-based competitors. It also maintains a higher upright driving position, providing better visibility through fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.5L V8 typically averages around 17L/100km, influenced heavily by the stop-start traffic of major GCC metros. The 96-litre fuel tank provides adequate range for cross-emirate drives, though the AMG powertrain prefers premium 98-octane fuel for optimal performance. Maintenance follows the standard Mercedes-Benz Service A and B schedule every 15,000 km, with a widespread network of authorized service centers available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While this model year faces steady depreciation, the G63 remains one of the most stable luxury SUVs for value retention in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 563 hp bi-turbo V8 delivers a certified 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.4 seconds, an impressive feat for a vehicle with such a significant footprint. Its Four Wheel Drive system is bolstered by a low-range transfer case, making it one of the few luxury SUVs capable of serious technical off-roading. The 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission is specifically tuned for fast highway overtaking and long-distance cruising comfort at speed. Ground clearance remains generous, allowing the vehicle to clear obstacles and dunes that would stop most road-biased performance SUVs.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for the GCC climate, featuring a powerful multi-zone air conditioning system and ventilated front seats to combat summer heat. High-quality acoustic glass helps insulate the interior from the roar of the side-exit exhausts during long highway journeys. The upright seating position offers massive headroom for all passengers, while the trunk provides ample cargo space for family road trips between emirates. Tech highlights include the COMAND infotainment system with navigation, ensuring connectivity across the region.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of active systems including Blind Spot Assist, which is essential for the high-speed multi-lane highways typical of the GCC. Adaptive cruise control (DISTRONIC PLUS) reduces driver fatigue during long desert drives by maintaining a safe distance from leading vehicles. The vehicle also includes a reinforced body structure, multiple airbags, and an advanced electronic stability program specifically calibrated to handle the G-Wagen's high center of gravity during emergency maneuvers.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec G63 AMG is the perfect entry point for a buyer who wants the prestige and power of a hand-built V8 icon without the price tag of a newer model. It is a reliable, high-status workhorse that is mechanically ready for the unique demands of UAE roads.
