• Hand-built 5.5L twin-turbocharged V8 engine
• 900 Nm of torque

Summary

This S63 AMG represents a high-performance entry into the flagship executive class, offering a rare blend of massive twin-turbocharged power and refined luxury. Finished in white, which remains one of the strongest resale colors for high-end sedans in the GCC market, it stands out for its imposing presence and relative value compared to newer generations. While this model is 10 years old, it was the benchmark for cabin tech in its era and continues to offer features that many modern mid-range cars lack. For a buyer in the UAE, the primary consideration is the American regional spec, which often results in a lower entry price while still providing the immense 585 hp output that makes long highway drives effortless. It remains a top choice for those who prioritize a hand-built AMG powertrain and the prestige of the S-Class nameplate without the steep depreciation of a new showroom model.

This Car vs Other 2016 S63 AMGs

At 157,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is slightly lower than the 200,000 km to 250,000 km typically expected for a 10-year-old car in the GCC, where long-distance commuting is standard. The white exterior is the most sought-after resale color in the regional market, offering better heat reflection and easier maintenance. As an American spec vehicle, it offers a distinct price advantage over local GCC-spec equivalents, though buyers should verify the specific maintenance records for climate adaptations.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The S63 AMG replaces the standard S-Class air suspension with an AMG-tuned sports system and adds a high-performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive setup as standard. Inside, it features the premium IWC analog clock and upgraded AMG sports seats with massage and ventilation functions that are essential for the Gulf summer. The audio experience is also elevated via the standard Burmester surround sound system, a significant step up from the base units found in the S500.

S63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The S63 AMG leads the BMW M760Li and Audi S8 in raw torque output, providing 900 Nm that ensures superior overtaking ability on fast-moving UAE highways. Its 80-litre fuel tank provides a generous cruising range for long trips between Emirates, such as Dubai to Abu Dhabi or Al Ain. The cabin is widely regarded as having better sound insulation and ride quality than its more aggressively sprung German competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.5L biturbo V8 typically averages around 10.3 L/100km combined, though this can rise to 17 L/100km in heavy stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals for AMG models are every 20,000 km or 12 months, and Mercedes-Benz maintains a massive authorized service network across all major GCC cities. As an American spec 10-year-old car, the depreciation curve has flattened, making it a stable asset for short-to-medium term ownership.

Performance & Capability

The 585 hp output allows this luxury sedan to reach 100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds, a figure that remains competitive with modern performance cars. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system provides excellent traction on sand-dusted road surfaces common in the region. The Seven-speed SPEEDSHIFT MCT transmission is tuned for both comfort in city traffic and rapid response during high-speed highway merging.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is defined by dual 12.3-inch high-resolution displays and extensive use of Nappa leather and real wood trim. For the GCC climate, the high-capacity air conditioning and ventilated front seats provide rapid cooling even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight. Exceptional cabin insulation ensures a whisper-quiet environment, shielding passengers from road noise during long cross-border drives.

Safety

This trim includes the full suite of Mercedes-Benz safety tech, featuring Pre-Safe collision preparation and multiple airbags as standard. The adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring are particularly beneficial for navigating the fast-paced multi-lane highways of the UAE. Stability and traction control systems are specifically calibrated to handle the high torque output on a variety of road surfaces.

The bottom line

This S63 AMG is a perfect fit for an executive or enthusiast who wants the prestige of a hand-built V8 at a fraction of the original cost, benefitting from a highly desirable color and a mileage count that is healthy for its age.
