Summary

This 2016 model represents a smart acquisition for GCC families looking for European engineering at a highly accessible entry point. With mileage tracking well below the regional average for its age, it offers significantly more mechanical longevity than most available on the pre-owned market. The silver exterior is one of the most practical choices for the region, reflecting heat effectively and holding its resale value better than darker alternatives. This specific trim is particularly desirable for long family road trips across the Emirates, thanks to the integrated video pack which keeps younger passengers occupied. It stands out in the crossover segment by offering a genuine seven-seat layout without the cumbersome footprint of a full-sized SUV. For a buyer in the UAE, the main advantage here is the balance of a fuel-efficient engine with a premium interior that handles the local climate with ease.

This Car vs Other 2016 5008s

At approximately 109,000 kilometers, this vehicle has been driven roughly 13,000 to 14,000 kilometers per year, which is considerably lower than the 20,000 to 25,000 kilometers typical of the GCC market. Most similar models from this production year are now approaching the 180,000-kilometer mark, making this a rare find for a buyer who prioritizes mechanical freshness. The silver paint is a strategic advantage for local owners as it hides fine desert dust better than black or blue, requiring fewer trips to the car wash. Furthermore, being a GCC spec vehicle, it has avoided the common pitfalls of imported North American or European units, such as incompatible cooling systems or invalid regional warranties. This car has clearly been used as a primary family vehicle in a urban setting rather than a high-mileage commuter across borders. The interior conditions often deteriorate quickly in the sun, but the lower usage here suggests the cabin materials have been better preserved.

PREMIUM W/VIDEO PACK vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the Premium trim with the Video Pack transforms the ownership experience from basic transportation to a dedicated mobile entertainment hub. The standout feature is the factory-integrated video screens located in the front headrests, allowing rear passengers to watch movies independently, a feature usually reserved for much more expensive luxury SUVs. In addition to the entertainment suite, this trim includes upgraded upholstery and enhanced climate control settings that are vital for the extreme GCC summers. You also benefit from more sophisticated interior lighting and higher-quality dashboard materials that are less prone to UV-related fading or cracking. The visual presence is also enhanced with specific exterior touches and alloy wheels that distinguish it from the entry-level models. For those who frequently travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi with children, the Video Pack alone makes this trim a significantly more logical investment and a huge draw for the next buyer.

5008 vs Segment Rivals

In the competitive landscape of seven-seat crossovers, this model successfully bridges the gap between the utilitarian Toyota Rush and more expensive options like the Kia Sorento. While the Toyota is known for durability, the European design of this vehicle offers a more refined ride and superior cabin insulation, which is immediately noticeable at highway speeds. It competes directly with the Mitsubishi Outlander, yet offers a more flexible seating arrangement with individual chairs rather than a traditional bench, providing better ergonomics for long drives. Its 1.6-liter turbocharged engine is designed for efficiency, often outperforming the larger naturally aspirated engines of its rivals in terms of fuel consumption during highway cruising. The compact exterior dimensions make it much easier to park in tight Dubai Mall or Riyadh city spaces compared to bulkier American competitors. For a family that wants the prestige of a European brand without the massive footprint of a traditional 4x4, it remains a standout choice.

Running Costs & Resale

Operating this vehicle in the GCC is exceptionally cost-effective due to its efficient 1.6-liter powertrain, which averages roughly 7.3 liters per 100km on the highway. In local stop-and-start traffic in cities like Sharjah or Doha, you can expect highly competitive fuel consumption that minimizes monthly overheads compared to V6-powered rivals. As a GCC spec car, it is supported by established distributor networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring that genuine spare parts are readily available and air conditioning components are built for the 50°C summer peaks. The depreciation curve for this model has already leveled out, meaning the next owner will experience far less value loss over the next two years than someone buying a newer car. Resale value stays resilient because seven-seaters are always in high demand among the region's large expatriate and local families. Silver is traditionally a top-three resale color in the UAE, ensuring a faster turnaround when it is time to sell.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine produces a reliable 156 horsepower, which is perfectly tuned for urban driving and maintaining steady speeds on the E11 highway. The automatic transmission is calibrated for smoothness rather than aggression, ensuring a comfortable experience for all seven passengers. While many crossovers feel top-heavy, the front-wheel-drive architecture and low center of gravity provide a car-like handling experience that inspires confidence during lane changes. It can comfortably reach a top speed of 195 km/h, though its true strength lies in its mid-range torque for overtaking slow-moving trucks on rural roads. For weekend excursions, the 156mm ground clearance is more than enough to handle gravel tracks or light sand at the beach, even if it isn't designed for heavy dune bashing. The suspension is specifically tuned to absorb the vibrations of varied road textures, making long-distance trips across the desert landscape less fatiguing for the driver.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the focus is entirely on utility and passenger wellness with a unique three-row configuration where the second row consists of three individual, full-sized seats. This is a game-changer for GCC families as it allows three adults or three child seats to fit side-by-side without discomfort. The air conditioning system is remarkably robust, featuring dedicated rear vents that ensure the third row stays cool even during the peak of July. Large windows and an expansive windscreen provide a sense of airiness, while the upgraded sound insulation keeps the cabin quiet against the roar of desert winds. With the rear seats folded, the boot capacity is immense, easily accommodating large grocery hauls or luggage for a weekend staycation in Ras Al Khaimah. The Video Pack's headrest screens are the finishing touch, creating a theater-like environment that makes the time fly by on long family journeys.

Safety

Safety is where this European crossover truly eclipses its regional competitors, holding a prestigious 5-Star Euro NCAP rating. It comes standard with a comprehensive suite of six airbags, including curtain airbags that protect passengers all the way back to the third row. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and traction control are vital for maintaining grip during rare but heavy GCC rainstorms or when encountering patches of sand on the tarmac. This trim also includes ISOFIX child seat anchor points on all three second-row seats, reflecting its primary mission as a safe family hauler. High-performance braking systems with emergency brake assist ensure the car can stop safely from highway speeds when encountering sudden traffic. Compared to rivals in the 2016 market, this model offers a much more rigid passenger cell and advanced energy-absorbing zones that provide peace of mind for every family outing.

The bottom line

For a growing family in the UAE looking for a safe, low-mileage European seven-seater under a strict budget, this GCC-spec listing is virtually unbeatable. It is the perfect balance of entertainment tech and practical efficiency, ready for years of dependable service across the Gulf.
