Summary

This 2016 Toyota Prado is a standout choice for those seeking the region's most reliable 4x4 with significantly lower mileage than is typical for its age in the GCC. While many Prados of this vintage have crossed the 150,000 km mark, this example has covered just 72,000 km, preserving its mechanical longevity. The 2.7L engine offers a balanced approach to daily commuting and weekend exploration, paired with Toyota's legendary durability and a cooling system specifically engineered for the intense Gulf heat. Finished in high-resale White, it represents one of the safest automotive investments in the UAE, known for holding its value better than almost any other mid-size SUV. For a buyer prioritizing long-term peace of mind and lower running costs, this GCC-spec TX-L is a rare find in such well-preserved condition.

This Car vs Other 2016 Prados

With only 72,000 km on the odometer, this Prado has been driven roughly 9,000 km per year, which is less than half the average annual use of 20,000–25,000 km typical in the GCC. This lower usage means significantly less wear on the suspension and drivetrain compared to the high-mileage examples often found on the market. The White exterior is the most preferred color in the UAE for its heat-reflecting properties and superior resale demand.

TX-L vs Lower Trims

The TX-L trim is a significant step up from the base TX, adding essential comfort features that are highly valued in the local market, such as a factory-integrated cool box in the center console to keep beverages chilled during summer. It also typically includes upgraded alloy wheels, side steps for easier access, and rear parking sensors, providing a more refined ownership experience than the entry-level workhorse specifications.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero or the Ford Everest, the Prado leads with its exceptional resale value and the most extensive authorized service network across the entire GCC. While some competitors focus on high-output engines, the Prado's body-on-frame construction and Toyota-backed reliability make it the preferred choice for those who value mechanical simplicity and the ability to find parts in even the most remote areas of the region.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L powertrain is known for being more fuel-efficient in city traffic than the larger V6 variants, with real-world combined consumption averaging around 11.5–12.5 L/100km. Maintenance is straightforward with a massive network of Al Futtaim and other regional authorized centers ensuring service costs remain predictable. Historically, the Prado maintains a 3-year residual value of approximately 75–80% in the UAE, making it one of the slowest-depreciating vehicles in the SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with 220 mm of ground clearance, this Prado is built to navigate everything from urban speed humps to gravel desert tracks with ease. The full-time 4WD system features a Torsen limited-slip center differential and a dedicated low-range transfer case, providing genuine off-road capability that most unibody crossovers cannot match. Its 160 hp engine is tuned for durability and consistent performance in temperatures exceeding 45°C.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC family life, featuring a powerful dual-zone air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers stay cool during peak summer. This 5-seater configuration maximizes cargo space in the boot, making it ideal for long-distance trips between emirates. The inclusion of a refrigerated cool box and UV-cut glass further enhances passenger comfort during long desert highway drives.

Safety

This Prado comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist. For highway driving, it features Electronic Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control to maintain composure on sandy or wet surfaces. The robust body-on-frame design provides a high level of passive protection, complemented by multiple airbags standard on this trim.

The bottom line

This is the ideal opportunity for a practical buyer to secure a low-mileage, GCC-spec Prado that offers the perfect balance of legendary reliability and strong future resale value.
