• 5-star NHTSA safety rating
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2016 Toyota RAV4 EX is a quintessential example of why the model remains a staple on UAE roads. With a calculated annual mileage of exactly 13,000 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the 20,000–25,000 km GCC average, suggesting well-preserved mechanicals. Finished in white, the most robust color for heat reflection and resale value in the local market, it offers the perfect balance of SUV practicality and sedan-like maneuverability. As a facelifted fourth-generation model, it benefits from the 2016 styling updates and improved cabin insulation. For a GCC buyer, the combination of Toyota's bulletproof reliability and the extensive support network across the Emirates makes this a low-risk, high-utility purchase.

This Car vs Other 2016 RAV4s

With 130,000 km on the odometer, this RAV4 has averaged 13,000 km per year, which is remarkably low for a 10-year-old vehicle in the GCC where highway commutes often push annual averages toward 25,000 km. This lower-than-expected usage typically results in less wear on cooling systems and suspension components. The white exterior is the highest-demand color in the region, ensuring better thermal management during summer and a faster exit at resale.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim serves as a significant step up from the base GX, providing essential tech that local buyers value, including a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a rearview camera. It also features 17-inch alloy wheels and roof rails as standard, replacing the basic steel wheels found on entry-level models. Inside, the EX trim includes cruise control and steering-mounted audio buttons, which are vital for comfort on long drives between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

RAV4 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Honda CR-V or Nissan X-Trail, the RAV4 leads in long-term durability and ease of maintenance within the GCC. Its 60-litre fuel tank provides a generous cruising range for cross-border trips or long desert highway stretches. While competitors may offer complex turbocharged engines, the RAV4’s naturally aspirated 2.5L powerplant is specifically prized in this region for its ability to handle extreme heat without the cooling complexities of forced induction.

Running Costs & Resale

Toyota vehicles command the highest resale value in the UAE, typically depreciating at a much slower rate than European or American competitors. Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L engine averages between 7.7 and 8.1 L/100km, making it an efficient choice for daily city commuting. Maintenance is highly accessible, with service centers available in every major city from Al Ain to Ras Al Khaimah, and parts are widely available at competitive prices.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5-litre Dual VVT-i engine delivers a reliable 177 hp, providing steady power for highway overtaking and confident city driving. Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the drive is smooth and responsive even under the load of a full family. While primarily road-biased, its 190 mm ground clearance allows for confident navigation over speed bumps and light sand tracks typical of UAE weekend outings.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin of the 2016 facelift model features upgraded soft-touch materials and significantly improved sound deadening for a quieter highway experience. Dedicated rear AC vents ensure that all five passengers remain comfortable during the peak of the GCC summer. The 60/40 split-folding rear seats provide immense flexibility, expanding the cargo area to accommodate large family grocery runs or outdoor gear with ease.

Safety

This RAV4 comes standard with a comprehensive safety package that earned a 5-star rating from the NHTSA. Key features include seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution. The inclusion of a standard rearview camera and parking sensors adds a layer of convenience and safety for navigating tight urban parking spaces in Dubai or Riyadh.

The bottom line

This is an ideal opportunity for a family or professional seeking a reliable, low-maintenance SUV that has been driven well below the regional average. Its GCC specification and white finish make it a 'safe bet' for both daily utility and future resale value.
