Toyota RAV4 XLE RAV4 XLE HV 4X4

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 9.9 seconds
• 155 mm minimum ground clearance
• 60-litre fuel tank capacity

Summary

This 2017 RAV4 XLE is an exceptional find in the GCC market, showing remarkably low mileage for a nine-year-old vehicle at just 45,229 km. While it features American regional specs, the Silver exterior is a premier resale choice in the region, known for masking desert dust and reflecting intense summer heat. The XLE trim strikes the perfect balance for daily use, offering significant interior upgrades over the base model without the premium price of a Limited trim. As one of Toyota's most durable crossovers, it offers a proven mechanical platform that handles the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh with ease. For a buyer seeking long-term reliability and high residual value, this low-distance example is a standout opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2017 RAV4s

With only 45,229 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen in the GCC. At nine years old, most comparable models would have surpassed 180,000 km, making this a rare 'low-mileage' advantage for a used buyer. The Silver Sky Metallic finish is highly sought after locally for its durability and excellent heat rejection properties.

XLE vs Lower Trims

The XLE trim provides a substantial upgrade over the base LE, most notably adding a power moonroof and dual-zone automatic climate control, which is essential for managing the UAE's varied passenger comfort needs. It also replaces basic steel wheels with 17-inch alloys and adds fog lights and heated power mirrors. Inside, you get improved seat contours and the Entune Audio Plus system, offering a more refined cabin experience for long highway commutes.

RAV4 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Honda CR-V or Nissan X-Trail, the RAV4 leads with a reputation for bulletproof reliability and the most extensive service network across the entire GCC region. Its 60-litre fuel tank provides competitive range for cross-emirate drives, and the All-Wheel Drive system offers superior stability on gravel-strewn suburban roads or during occasional heavy rain. Toyota's resale value in this segment consistently outperforms American and European competitors by a significant margin.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L AWD powertrain averages around 9.5L/100km combined, which remains efficient for a naturally aspirated SUV in this class. While this is an American spec vehicle, parts for the 4th-generation RAV4 are widely available through independent and authorized retailers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. This model typically sees a low annual depreciation rate of approximately 8–10% in the GCC, making it one of the safest automotive investments for value retention.

Performance & Capability

The 170 hp 2.5-litre engine provides reliable performance for highway overtaking and city merging, paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission. The All-Wheel Drive system is particularly useful for weekend trips to the wadis or driving on loose sandy patches near suburban developments. With a 155 mm ground clearance, it easily manages speed bumps and uneven terrain while maintaining a comfortable, car-like ride quality on the E11.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for family practicality, featuring flat-folding rear seats that expand the cargo area for large shopping trips or camping gear. The dual-zone climate control is a critical feature for the GCC summer, allowing the driver and passenger to set independent cooling levels. High-quality insulation helps keep the interior quiet during high-speed highway cruising, while the silver exterior helps the AC system reach optimal temperatures faster after being parked in the sun.

Safety

This 2017 model comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, featuring a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which is perfect for long desert highway drives. The XLE trim also includes Blind Spot Monitoring, an essential tool for navigating the fast-moving, multi-lane traffic common in major GCC cities. Multiple airbags and stability control ensure a high level of protection for all five occupants.

The bottom line

This is a prime choice for a budget-conscious family or professional seeking a low-mileage, high-reliability SUV that will hold its value better than almost anything else in its class.
