Summary

This 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 stands out as a rare find in the GCC market, combining the off-road-tuned Z71 package with the range-topping 6.2L V8 engine. With 140,000 km, this vehicle has been driven well within the expectations for a full-size SUV in the region, where high-speed highway commuting is standard. The black exterior remains one of the most liquid and high-demand colors for resale in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Unlike the more common 5.3L variants, this 6.2L model offers superior overtaking power and towing confidence for large families. It represents the perfect mechanical foundation for owners who need a durable, body-on-frame workhorse that handles extreme summer temperatures without compromise.

This Car vs Other 2017 Tahoes

At 140,000 km, this Tahoe sits at a very healthy mileage for its age in the GCC, averaging just 20,000 km per year. While many Tahoes from this era have been used as high-mileage desert runners or shuttle vehicles, this example presents as a well-maintained family SUV. The Black exterior significantly bolsters its resale appeal compared to niche colors, as it remains a perennial favorite in the local secondary market.

Z71 vs Lower Trims

The Z71 trim is purpose-built for capability, adding a dedicated off-road suspension, skid plates, and a 3.42 rear axle ratio that you won't find on the standard LS or LT trims. It features a unique front fascia designed for a better approach angle and includes recovery hooks and hill descent control as standard. Inside, it often gains trim-specific rubber floor mats and Z71 branding, catering to an active GCC lifestyle.

Tahoe vs Segment Rivals

The Tahoe leads segment rivals like the Nissan Armada and Ford Expedition with its legendary 6.2L V8 power and a robust body-on-frame construction that is easier to service across the GCC. Its 98-litre fuel tank provides the necessary range for long-distance travel between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh. Additionally, the Z71 package provides a specialized off-road hardware suite that outclasses more road-biased luxury crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

The 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 is highly regarded for its longevity, provided it is run on premium fuel as recommended. Maintenance is simple thanks to the massive Chevrolet authorized service network and widely available parts in every major GCC city. Historically, GCC-spec Tahoes retain their value better than almost any other American SUV, benefiting from a massive local fan base and high demand in the used market.

Performance & Capability

Delivering 420 hp and 623 Nm of torque, this Tahoe offers effortless acceleration and a 0-100 km/h time in the mid-6-second range. The selectable Four Wheel Drive system with a two-speed transfer case allows for genuine desert exploration, while the 3,810 kg towing capacity is ideal for hauling boats or trailers. The Z71-specific suspension ensures a stable ride whether you are navigating gravel tracks or cruising at 140 km/h on the E11.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for eight passengers, featuring a versatile layout with a focus on cooling performance essential for the region. Powerful rear AC vents and triple-zone climate control ensure all three rows remain comfortable during peak summer heat. Acoustic laminated glass and extensive insulation keep the interior quiet, making it an ideal environment for long family road trips across the Emirates.

Safety

Standard safety features on this Z71 include a rear vision camera, rear park assist, and a suite of seven airbags including a segment-exclusive front-center airbag. Stability control with proactive roll avoidance and trailer sway control provide peace of mind during heavy-duty towing or high-speed highway driving. The Tahoe's high seating position and robust chassis offer a natural safety advantage in fast-moving traffic.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity for a GCC buyer to secure a Z71-trim Tahoe with the flagship 6.2L engine, offering a level of performance and off-road readiness that the standard 5.3L models simply cannot match.
