If you are wondering whether this 2017 Mazda CX-9 drives like a proper Mazda, we will cut to the chase, you bet it does & it drives more responsive than previous CX-9’s. There is plenty of power, too from the 2.5L Turbocharged Engine which is something not every Mazda can claim. If athleticism is what you want from a family-sized crossover, the CX-9's are hard to beat.
Remaining a compelling choice coming with standard tri-zone automatic climate control, added options to this full option includes Bose sound system, lane change warning, side collision warning, heated front seats & a front sunroof making the CX-9 tick all the family-friendly boxes. It does as good a job for a fraction of the price and still has enough options to keep up with the big German brand names.
Powering the AWD CX-9 is a 2.5L naturally aspirated Turbocharged engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, producing figures of 227 bhp & 420Nm of torque. Mazda have also upgraded the steering & the suspension, and sure enough, considering its stature, the CX-9 handles very well. Good steering – nicely and consistently weighted thanks to the AWD system – commendable body-control, decent ride-quality, loads of grip…it is right up there fighting for best-in-class honours at its price.
Things have improved for this model, the new 7inch infotainment screen that protrudes from the top of the dash, aluminium-look air vents and trim strip across basically its entire width make the whole thing feel much more modern. Stuffed with equipment and feels like a nice place to be - comfy seats, incredibly quiet and there is plenty of storage space too.
