Summary

This 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero represents a strategic purchase for anyone seeking the gold standard of GCC-proven reliability and off-road capability. With a mileage profile that sits well below the typical 25,000 km annual average for the region, this SUV has been driven with restraint compared to its peers. The GLS MIDLINE trim strikes a perfect balance between rugged utility and necessary modern comforts, making it an ideal candidate for both daily urban commuting in Dubai and weekend desert explorations. Finished in high-demand White, it offers the highest possible resale protection in the local market, as this color is preferred for its heat-reflecting properties and long-term aesthetic durability. Unlike many modern crossovers, the Pajero’s heritage-backed 4WD system ensures it remains a true performer on sand and gravel. For the GCC buyer, the most important consideration is the peace of mind that comes with Mitsubishi’s massive service network and the legendary parts availability across the UAE and beyond.

This Car vs Other 2017 Pajeros

In the context of the GCC used car market, this particular 2017 Pajero is a standout due to its well-preserved mileage. While many 2017 models currently circulating have already surpassed the 150,000 km mark—given the long-distance highway culture between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and the Northern Emirates—this unit sits comfortably at approximately 118,573 km. This lower-than-average usage suggests less mechanical fatigue on the powertrain and suspension systems. The White exterior is the most strategically sound choice for a used vehicle in this region, as it hides dust effectively and maintains a cooler cabin temperature during the peak summer months. Buyers will find that this specific listing offers a much fresher interior and tighter driving feel than the high-mileage alternatives typically found in this price bracket. Choosing a GCC-spec Pajero over imported alternatives also ensures that the cooling system and radiator are specifically engineered to handle the 50°C summer heat without compromise.

GLS MIDLINE vs Lower Trims

The GLS MIDLINE trim level is a significant step up from the base GLX models, offering features that are essential for a premium ownership experience in the UAE. This trim introduces more sophisticated interior materials and enhanced exterior aesthetics, such as chrome accents and upgraded alloy wheels that provide a more commanding presence on the road. Inside, the MIDLINE package includes a more capable climate control system with dedicated rear vents, which is a non-negotiable requirement for passenger comfort during a GCC summer. You also benefit from an improved audio setup and better sound insulation, making those long highway stretches significantly quieter than in the base trim. For the driver, the MIDLINE offers better seat adjustability and high-quality upholstery that is designed to withstand the abrasive nature of sand and high UV exposure better than entry-level fabrics. It provides the essential luxuries that maintain the car's value without the added complexity of the high-end electronics found in the top-tier trims, which can sometimes be costly to maintain out of warranty.

Pajero vs Segment Rivals

When compared to segment rivals like the Toyota Prado or the Nissan Pathfinder, the Pajero offers a unique value proposition that has made it a staple on GCC roads for decades. While the Prado often commands a much higher entry price for similar features, the Pajero provides a more planted and stable feel on the highway thanks to its monocoque body with built-in ladder frame. Against the Pathfinder, the Pajero is the far superior off-roader, utilizing a mechanical Super Select 4WD-II system that allows for shifting between 2H and 4H at speeds up to 100 km/h—a feature the car's more 'soft-roader' competitors simply cannot match. Its cooling system is also widely regarded as one of the most robust in the segment, often outperforming American rivals when idling in heavy stop-start traffic in Riyadh or Dubai. The Pajero also boasts a very tight turning circle for its size, making it surprisingly nimble in tight mall parking lots or narrow urban streets compared to larger American-style SUVs.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a Pajero in the GCC is remarkably cost-effective due to the sheer volume of these vehicles on the road. The 3.5L V6 is a tried-and-tested workhorse that runs comfortably on standard 95-octane petrol, with fuel consumption averaging around 13.0L per 100km in mixed driving conditions. While not the most frugal in its class, its mechanical simplicity means that service intervals are straightforward and remarkably affordable at any authorized Mitsubishi center or reputable independent garage across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. Parts are available in every corner of the region, from major cities to remote towns, which drastically reduces repair times compared to European or American brands. In terms of resale, the Pajero is a local legend; it typically experiences a very low annual depreciation rate of approximately 8–10%, making it one of the safest financial investments in the used car market. After three years of ownership, a well-maintained GCC-spec Pajero often retains a significantly higher percentage of its value than almost any other SUV in its price range.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this vehicle is the 3.5-liter V6 engine, which delivers smooth and reliable power suitable for both high-speed cruising and demanding off-road tasks. The 0-100 km/h sprint is handled with composure, but where this engine truly shines is in its mid-range torque, which is essential for overtaking on the E11 or climbing dunes in the Liwa desert. The Super Select 4WD-II system is the star of the show, offering four distinct modes including a locked rear differential and a low-range transfer case for serious terrain. With a generous ground clearance of 235 mm, the Pajero can navigate obstacles that would stop most modern crossovers in their tracks. Whether you are towing a jet ski to the coast or hauling a full load of camping gear into the Hajar Mountains, the 4WD system and heavy-duty suspension provide a sense of unstoppability. This is a vehicle engineered for the extremes of the Middle East, offering a level of ruggedness that modern unibody SUVs have largely moved away from.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Pajero provides a spacious and airy environment with excellent all-round visibility, which is a major confidence booster for the driver. The five-seat configuration in this GLS MIDLINE ensures that every passenger has ample legroom and headroom, making it a favorite for families. The air conditioning system is legendary in the GCC for its ability to turn the cabin into a refrigerator within minutes, even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight all day. Rear passengers are treated to their own cooling vents, ensuring that the second row remains just as comfortable as the front. The boot space is cavernous, providing enough room for large grocery runs or several full-sized suitcases for airport trips. High-quality materials are used throughout the dashboard and door panels, designed to resist the warping and fading that can occur in high-heat environments. The cabin insulation is also commendable, effectively filtering out the wind noise during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

Safety in the Pajero is comprehensive, starting with its RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body construction that effectively absorbs and redirects energy during a collision. This GLS MIDLINE trim is equipped with a suite of active safety features including Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC), which is particularly valuable when navigating slippery rain-slicked roads or loose sandy patches on the highway. Multi-mode ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) come standard, ensuring that the vehicle remains under control even during emergency braking maneuvers with a full load. For the family buyer, the inclusion of ISOFIX child seat anchors and multiple airbags provides essential peace of mind. The car also features high-visibility LED daytime running lights and powerful halogen headlamps that are vital for night driving on unlit desert roads. These systems combined have helped the Pajero maintain a consistently high safety rating, making it one of the most trusted family vehicles in the region.

The bottom line

For a buyer looking for the ultimate balance of GCC reliability, off-road heritage, and strong resale value, this 2017 Pajero is an unbeatable choice. It is the perfect vehicle for a professional who needs a dependable daily driver that can transition seamlessly into a weekend adventurer without breaking the bank on maintenance.
