Summary

This 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero GLS Midline is the quintessential GCC workhorse, offering a perfect balance of daily utility and weekend adventure capability. With 143,000 km, it sits comfortably within the expected mileage for a durable Japanese SUV in this region, where highway-heavy commutes are the norm. The 3.5L V6 engine is widely regarded for its mechanical simplicity and long-term reliability compared to more complex modern turbocharged units. Finished in white, the most desirable resale color in the Gulf, this vehicle remains cool under the intense local sun and maintains high demand in the used market. For buyers seeking a robust 7-seater that is as capable on the school run as it is on a desert trail, this Pajero represents an exceptionally practical choice.

This Car vs Other 2017 Pajeros

At 143,000 km, this Pajero has been driven approximately 20,000 km per year, which is perfectly aligned with the GCC average for family SUVs. Unlike higher-mileage examples that often exceed 200,000 km by this age, this unit retains significant mechanical longevity. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the region, offering the best heat reflection and the strongest possible resale value when it comes time to upgrade.

GLS MIDLINE vs Lower Trims

The Midline trim bridges the gap between basic utility and comfort, adding essential features like cruise control and steering wheel audio buttons that are often missing on base models. It upgrades the cabin with a more refined finish and better entertainment integration, while retaining the heavy-duty fabric upholstery preferred by many for its durability in high temperatures. Most importantly, it includes the full Super Select 4WD-II system, which is a significant upgrade over standard part-time systems found in entry-level rivals.

Pajero vs Segment Rivals

While the Toyota Prado and Nissan Pathfinder are its primary competitors, the Pajero stands out with its superior value-for-money proposition and robust body-on-frame-inspired monocoque construction. It offers a more mechanical, connected driving feel and genuine off-road hardware—like a locking center differential—that many road-biased crossovers in this price bracket lack. The Pajero's upright glasshouse also provides better visibility for navigating tight city parking and technical off-road terrain.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L V6 typically averages 13.0 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, performing efficiently on long-distance highway stretches between emirates. Owners benefit from one of the most comprehensive service networks in the Middle East, with specialized Mitsubishi centers and affordable third-party parts available in every major city from Dubai to Muscat. While it depreciates slightly faster than a Toyota, the lower initial purchase price makes the total cost of ownership highly competitive over a three-to-five-year period.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with 189 hp and a 3.5L V6, this SUV is tuned for low-end torque and reliability rather than outright speed, making it ideal for towing and sand driving. The Super Select 4WD-II system allows you to shift between 2WD and 4WD at speeds up to 100 km/h, providing essential flexibility for sudden rain or gravel patches on the highway. With a generous 235 mm ground clearance and short overhangs, it easily clears the obstacles found on weekend desert excursions.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is highly versatile, featuring a third row that can fold flat into the floor or be removed entirely to maximize cargo space for road trips. The GCC-spec air conditioning is famously powerful, featuring dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers remain comfortable during the peak of summer. The cabin is designed for durability, using high-quality plastics and fabrics that withstand the wear and tear of family life and the fine dust of the desert environment.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Mitsubishi's Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC). The vehicle's RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body structure is designed to dissipate energy in the event of a collision, providing a solid safety foundation for family transport. Standard cruise control helps reduce driver fatigue on long desert highway drives.

The bottom line

This Pajero is the ideal match for a GCC family or adventurer looking for a bulletproof, 7-seat 4x4 that offers legendary reliability and strong resale potential in a clean, white-on-beige configuration.
