Summary

This 2018 McLaren 720S Performance stands out in the GCC market as a low-mileage example that has been driven less than 2,500 km annually, far below the regional average. The deep Burgundy (Norello Red) exterior is a sophisticated choice that holds strong appeal for collectors and high-end buyers in the UAE and wider Gulf. As a Performance trim, it carries factory carbon fiber upgrades and a driver-focused Alcantara interior that justifies a premium over base models. For a GCC buyer, this represents an opportunity to own a benchmark-setting supercar that still feels fresh, having already navigated the steepest part of the depreciation curve common for British exotics.

This Car vs Other 2018 720Ss

With just 14,450 km on the odometer, this 720S is a significant outlier in the GCC used market, where typical supercars of this age often exceed 35,000 km due to frequent highway use between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This low usage suggests limited heat cycles and high mechanical integrity. The Burgundy finish offers a rare alternative to the more common orange or white, enhancing its future resale prospects as a unique specification.

PERFORMANCE vs Lower Trims

The Performance trim elevates the 720S with standard carbon fiber exterior elements, including hood intakes, door mirror casings, and rear fender air intakes that are otherwise optional extras. Inside, it replaces standard leather with a weight-saving, high-grip Alcantara and leather combination that stays significantly cooler in the intense GCC summer heat compared to all-leather seats. It also typically includes the sports exhaust system as standard, providing a more visceral engine note that is highly sought after by regional enthusiasts.

720S vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Ferrari 488 GTB and Lamborghini Huracán, the 720S leads with its revolutionary Carbon Monocage II chassis, which provides superior visibility and structural rigidity. Its active hydraulic suspension system offers a level of ride comfort on uneven city roads that its Italian rivals struggle to match, while still delivering 710 hp—a figure that outclasses the 488 GTB. The teardrop glass canopy also ensures better cabin cooling efficiency in the Gulf climate due to its advanced solar-reflective glass.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 720S is approximately 10.7 L/100km on combined cycles, though GCC stop-start traffic will see higher figures. McLaren recommends service intervals of 10,000 km or 12 months, with authorized centers available in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and Kuwait. While McLarens initially depreciate faster than Japanese luxury brands, this 2018 model has reached a price floor, and its low mileage makes it a stronger value-retention candidate compared to higher-mileage GCC-spec examples.

Performance & Capability

The 720S is defined by its staggering 2.9-second 0–100 km/h sprint and its ability to reach 200 km/h in just 7.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest cars on UAE highways. The ProActive Chassis Control II system allows you to toggle between Comfort, Sport, and Track modes, adapting instantly from a smooth cruiser for long inter-emirate drives to a sharp track tool for Yas Marina Circuit. Its rear-wheel-drive setup is managed by sophisticated electronics that maintain high-speed stability even on dust-prone desert asphalt.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cockpit is surprisingly practical for a supercar, featuring a dual-zone climate control system that is specifically engineered to combat high external temperatures. Visibility is class-leading thanks to slim A-pillars and glazed C-pillars, reducing blind spots during fast-paced highway commuting. The Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and Performance seats ensure you stay firmly in place during spirited cornering, while the portrait-style touchscreen handles navigation and media with ease.

Safety

Safety is anchored by the incredibly strong carbon fiber Monocage II, which acts as a safety cell for both occupants. This trim includes carbon-ceramic brakes as standard, providing immense stopping power that resists fade even in the extreme heat of the Gulf. It is equipped with advanced electronic stability control, traction control, and a full suite of airbags, including driver knee airbags, ensuring maximum protection during high-speed travel on regional motorways.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC collector looking for a low-mileage 720S in a rare, high-resale color that has been kept in peak mechanical condition.
