• 700 hp from a 4.0-liter V8
• Top speed of 341 km/h

Summary

This 8-year-old McLaren 720S Performance stands as a definitive benchmark in the supercar segment, pairing a lightweight carbon fiber Monocage II chassis with a formidable 700 hp powertrain. Finished in black, the most sought-after color for resale in the GCC, this Japanese-spec example has covered just 18,054 km, significantly below the regional average for a car of this age. The Performance trim elevates the experience with additional carbon fiber accents and an Alcantara-focused cabin designed for high-speed engagement. For the UAE buyer, this represents a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage Super Series icon that still dominates modern performance rivals on both the highway and the track. While imported, the car benefits from the same fundamental mechanical architecture as local units, supported by specialized supercar service centers across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2018 720Ss

With just 18,054 km on the odometer, this car has averaged approximately 2,250 km per year, which is exceptionally low compared to the typical 20,000 km annual usage seen in the GCC. While local-spec cars are often prioritized, Japanese imports are frequently praised for their meticulous maintenance history and superior cosmetic preservation. The black exterior remains a high-demand choice in the UAE, ensuring it maintains a competitive edge in the local pre-owned market.

PERFORMANCE vs Lower Trims

The Performance trim sits above the standard 720S, replacing standard interior materials with a driver-centric mix of Alcantara and Nappa leather. It also integrates extensive carbon fiber exterior detailing, including hood intakes and door mirror arms, which provide a more aggressive visual profile. These high-spec finishes are highly valued in the GCC market, where carbon fiber upgrades significantly impact a supercar's desirability and eventual resale value.

720S vs Segment Rivals

The 720S leads rivals like the Ferrari 488 GTB and Lamborghini Huracán in pure technical metrics, particularly in its 0–200 km/h acceleration time. Its unique Proactive Chassis Control II system allows for a ride quality that is notably more compliant over GCC city roads than its stiffer Italian counterparts. The teardrop glasshouse also offers superior visibility, a practical advantage when navigating heavy highway traffic in Dubai or Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.7 L/100km, though this increases in GCC stop-start city traffic. Service intervals for the 720S are typically every 15,000 km or annually, and while this is a Japanese spec, specialized authorized service centers in the UAE, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia provide the necessary expertise for maintenance. Super Series McLarens generally see a depreciation rate of 12-15% annually in the UAE, though low-mileage examples like this one tend to resist the sharpest drops.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 delivers a staggering 700 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 341 km/h. On the wide, well-maintained highways of the UAE, the car feels incredibly stable, aided by an active rear spoiler that doubles as an airbrake. Its rear-wheel-drive layout and rapid-shifting dual-clutch transmission provide an unfiltered connection to the road, ideal for weekend drives to Jebel Jais or track days at Yas Marina.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cockpit is a blend of carbon fiber and Alcantara, designed to keep the driver cool and focused during high-speed travel. The air conditioning system is robust enough to handle the transition into Gulf summers, supported by a glass canopy that offers an airy feel without compromising structural rigidity. The Performance-spec seats provide exceptional lateral support, which is essential for maintaining comfort during long-distance drives across the Emirates.

Safety

Standard safety features include carbon-ceramic brakes for immense stopping power, critical for high-speed highway safety. The Monocage II carbon fiber structure provides a rigid safety cell, while the full ADAS suite includes advanced stability control and multiple airbags. For GCC drivers, the blind-spot monitoring and front/rear parking sensors are particularly helpful when maneuvering this low-slung supercar in busy urban environments.

The bottom line

This is a prime opportunity for a collector or enthusiast to secure a low-mileage, Performance-trim 720S in the most desirable resale color, offering modern hypercar performance for a fraction of its original cost.
