Summary

This 2022 McLaren GT is a compelling purchase for the GCC buyer who demands supercar performance without sacrificing the ability to cross borders or commute in comfort. With just over 13,000 km, this example sits significantly below the typical annual mileage for a Grand Tourer in the region, ensuring its twin-turbo V8 remains in prime condition. Silver is a perennially strong resale color in the Middle East, offering excellent heat reflection during the summer months and wide market appeal. While rivals like the Bentley Continental GT lean into mass, the McLaren GT uses a carbon-fibre MonoCell II-T chassis to offer a lighter, sharper driving experience that feels at home on the fast-moving highways of Dubai and Riyadh. For the serious owner, its mid-engine layout provides a unique balance that front-engine competitors simply cannot replicate.

This Car vs Other 2022 McLaren GTs

With only 13,380 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven roughly 6,700 km per year, which is exceptionally low compared to the GCC average of 20,000 km. This lower usage translates to less wear on the suspension components and cooling systems, which are often stressed by the local climate. The silver exterior is one of the most practical and sought-after colors in the UAE and Saudi markets for maintaining its appearance and value.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The GT is offered as a distinct, standalone model in the McLaren lineup, meaning it comes standard with high-tier features that are often optional on their Super Series cars. This includes a dedicated 'Proactive Dampers' system that reads the road ahead and the 'Comfort' engine mapping specifically tuned for GCC highway cruising. You also receive the full leather interior and a more sophisticated infotainment system designed for longer journeys.

GT vs Segment Rivals

The McLaren GT stands apart from the Aston Martin DB11 and Bentley Continental GT by weighing significantly less, thanks to its carbon-fibre construction. It offers a combined 570 litres of storage (front and rear), which actually exceeds the trunk space of many luxury sedans in its class. This makes it a rare supercar capable of carrying a full set of golf clubs or weekend luggage for a trip to Salalah or AlUla.

Running Costs & Resale

In the GCC, the McLaren GT typically sees a depreciation rate of 12–15% annually, which is competitive for the exotic segment. Maintenance is recommended every 12 months or 15,000 km, with authorized service centers available in all major UAE cities and across the wider GCC. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 11.9 L/100km, though long highway drives between emirates can see this improve due to the car's aerodynamic efficiency.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 producing 611 hp, the GT reaches 100 km/h in a staggering 3.2 seconds. It features a bespoke exhaust note that is refined at cruising speeds but becomes visceral under heavy acceleration on the open road. The seven-speed Seamless Shift Gearbox (SSG) is optimized for smooth low-speed crawls in city traffic, a vital feature for stop-start congestion in the region's urban centers.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is tailored for the GCC's heat, featuring powerful dual-zone climate control and a specialized glass roof that filters out UV and infrared light. The 2-seat layout provides impressive legroom and visibility, making it far less intimidating to drive daily than other mid-engine exotics. High-quality Nappa leather and soft-close doors add a layer of refinement that makes long-distance travel across the desert highways effortless.

Safety

Safety is anchored by the rigid carbon-fibre passenger cell, which provides exceptional structural integrity. Standard features include a high-resolution 360° camera system, vital for navigating tight parking in luxury malls, and advanced electronic stability control tuned for high-speed highway safety. This trim also includes front and rear parking sensors and a tire pressure monitoring system essential for monitoring heat-related pressure changes during GCC summers.

The bottom line

For the GCC enthusiast, this low-mileage, GCC-spec McLaren GT represents the sweet spot of the used exotic market: supercar speed and brand prestige paired with genuine daily usability.
