Summary

This 2019 Ford Edge SEL represents a refined choice for GCC families, offering a mid-cycle refresh that introduced a smoother 8-speed transmission and enhanced tech. With mileage that sits comfortably at the local average for its age, this SUV provides a balance of modern safety and daily practicality. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, ensuring better heat reflection during peak summer and significantly stronger resale value in the UAE market. As a GCC-spec model, it is fully optimized for regional conditions with a robust cooling system and a comprehensive service network available across the Emirates. It stands out in the midsize crossover segment for its car-like handling and exceptionally quiet cabin insulation.

This Car vs Other 2019 Ford Edges

At 82,500 km, this Edge reflects typical annual usage in the GCC, where highway-heavy commutes are standard. Compared to many high-mileage units in the market, this example shows careful ownership and retains its mechanical longevity. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local climate, known for its superior heat rejection and high demand in the secondary market.

SEL vs Lower Trims

The SEL trim is the sweet spot of the 2019 range, upgrading the basic 4.2-inch screen to a much more functional 8-inch SYNC 3 interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also adds crucial GCC comfort features like dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, and a power-adjustable driver's seat that are absent on the base SE model.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

The Ford Edge leads rivals like the Nissan Murano and Chevrolet Blazer with a massive 1,110-litre maximum cargo capacity and a more composed, refined ride quality. Its turbocharged EcoBoost engine offers more low-end torque for highway overtaking than the naturally aspirated V6s found in many Japanese competitors, while maintaining better cruising efficiency.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is competitive for a midsize SUV, averaging roughly 9.6 L/100km on combined cycles, though GCC city traffic will see this increase slightly. Ford's extensive Al Tayer and Premier Motors service network ensures parts are readily available and maintenance costs remain predictable. The Edge holds value well in the UAE, typically seeing a standard 12-15% annual depreciation, which is lower than many of its American-branded peers.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L EcoBoost engine delivers a punchy 250 hp and 373 Nm of torque, allowing for a confident 0-100 km/h sprint in approximately 8.1 seconds. The 8-speed automatic transmission introduced in this model year provides seamless shifts, making it an excellent companion for long drives across the Emirates. While road-biased, its wide stance and high ground clearance handle gravel tracks and sandy curbs during weekend outings with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five adults, featuring class-leading legroom and a leather-wrapped steering wheel that adds a premium feel to the SEL trim. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the GCC, with dedicated rear vents ensuring all passengers remain cool during summer months. Excellent acoustic glass insulation makes the Edge one of the quietest SUVs in its price bracket, shielding occupants from highway wind noise.

Safety

The 2019 SEL comes standard with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite, a highly advanced package for this year. This includes Blind Spot Monitoring with Cross-Traffic Alert, which is essential for multi-lane Dubai highways, along with Lane-Keeping Assist and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. These active systems provide an extra layer of security that was often optional on competitors during the same period.

The bottom line

For a buyer seeking a modern, tech-focused SUV that doesn't sacrifice cargo space or cabin quietness, this GCC-spec SEL is the ideal balanced choice in today's market.
