Summary

This 2019 Tucson is a versatile family crossover that combines the efficiency of a 4-cylinder engine with the confidence of All-Wheel Drive. In the GCC market, white remains the most resilient color for resale, effectively hiding dust and managing cabin heat during the summer months. While its mileage is typical for a well-traveled regional commuter, the mid-tier trim provides essential modern tech that rivals the convenience of newer models. It stands out in its segment for balancing manageable exterior dimensions with a surprisingly generous cargo area. For a buyer in the Emirates or wider GCC, this represents a reliable daily driver with a proven track record for mechanical durability.

This Car vs Other 2019 Tucsons

With 162,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is average for a 2019 model in the GCC, where annual distances of 25,000 km are common due to highway commuting between cities. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the region, offering the highest demand and best value retention in the used market. Unlike base models, this MID trim provides the larger 2.4L engine, offering better highway overtaking performance for long desert drives.

GL MID vs Lower Trims

The GL MID trim significantly upgrades the driving experience by swapping the standard 2.0L engine for a more robust 2.4L unit. It typically adds essential GCC comforts such as a power-adjustable driver's seat, an upgraded 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration, and roof rails for extra utility. These features represent the 'sweet spot' for regional buyers who want modern connectivity without the premium cost of the leather-clad top trims.

Tucson vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, the Tucson is often praised for its quieter cabin insulation and more intuitive infotainment layout. While rivals focus on ruggedness, the Tucson offers a smoother, car-like ride that excels in stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Its cargo capacity is highly competitive, making it a practical choice for families who prioritize grocery runs and weekend road trips.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.4L powertrain delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 10.2 L/100km, making it economical for daily use on 91 or 95-octane petrol. Hyundai enjoys one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. This model maintains a strong residual value in the GCC, typically depreciating at a slower rate than its European counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 177 hp engine is paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission, providing steady power delivery for highway cruising at 120 km/h. The All-Wheel Drive system adds a layer of safety during rare rainy days or when navigating gravel tracks leading to weekend campsites. With a ground clearance of approximately 172 mm, it easily handles high speed bumps and uneven suburban roads found across the region.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the five-seat layout offers ample legroom for adults, supported by a dual-zone climate control system designed to handle extreme summer temperatures. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents, a vital feature for family comfort in the Gulf climate. The cabin is finished with durable materials that resist wear from sand and sunlight, while the folding rear seats allow for a flat loading floor.

Safety

Safety is a primary strength, evidenced by its 5-star NHTSA rating and standard suite of protective features. This trim includes electronic stability control and traction management, which are essential for maintaining grip on sandy road surfaces. Standard equipment also includes a rearview camera and multiple airbags, providing comprehensive peace of mind for family transport on fast-moving regional highways.

The bottom line

Perfect for a growing family or a daily commuter, this AWD Tucson offers the ideal balance of engine power and regional practicality. It is a smart opportunity for a buyer seeking a reliable, high-resale SUV that is fully equipped for the GCC's unique driving conditions.
