Summary

This 2019 CLS450 4MATIC stands out as a high-performance executive coupe that balances aggressive styling with the confidence of all-wheel drive. With 78,000 km, the mileage is slightly below the expected average for a 7-year-old car in the GCC, offering a mechanical advantage to the next owner. The white exterior is the premier choice for the local market, ensuring maximum heat reflection and a historically strong resale value across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This model year introduced the silky-smooth inline-six engine and the refined MBUX-style dual 12.3-inch displays, making it a significant tech leap over previous generations. For a buyer seeking the visual drama of a coupe with the practicality of four doors, this American-spec example offers a high equipment level often exceeding base local trims.

This Car vs Other 2019 CLS450s

At 78,000 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 11,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen on GCC highways. This lower usage translates to less wear on the suspension and interior components compared to high-mileage regional examples. The white paint is a strategic advantage in the Gulf, as it remains the most requested color for secondary buyers, supporting better price retention.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The 4MATIC trim replaces the rear-wheel drive setup with an intelligent all-wheel-drive system that improves 0–100 km/h times by roughly 0.3 seconds while providing superior stability during sudden rain or on gravel-strewn desert roads. As a 450-series, it features the 48-volt EQ Boost mild-hybrid system, which provides an additional 21 hp and 250 Nm of electric torque for smoother stop-start transitions in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic. This trim also standardizes the sportier AMG-line exterior styling, including the diamond-block grille and larger air intakes.

CLS450 vs Segment Rivals

The CLS450 leads rivals like the Audi A7 and BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe in engine refinement, utilizing an inherently balanced inline-six configuration that produces less vibration than a V6. Its 80-litre fuel tank is one of the largest in the segment, offering a theoretical range of over 900 km, which is a major benefit for cross-border drives to Oman or Saudi Arabia. The CLS also provides a more integrated cabin technology experience, with its dual-screen cockpit remaining a benchmark for ease of use.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L mild-hybrid powertrain averages approximately 9.8 L/100km, though highway cruising can drop figures significantly thanks to the 'sailing' mode that shuts off the engine when coasting. As an American-spec vehicle, it offers a lower entry price point, though buyers should note that resale follows a slightly different curve than GCC-spec cars; however, the CLS-Class historically retains about 43% of its value after five years in the local market. Maintenance is supported by an extensive network of specialized Mercedes-Benz service centers across the UAE and the wider GCC.

Performance & Capability

The 367 hp inline-six engine allows the CLS450 to reach 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, delivering effortless overtaking power on high-speed motorways. The 9G-TRONIC transmission is tuned for comfort but reacts sharply in Sport+ mode, making the most of the 500 Nm of torque available from low revs. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system ensures power is directed exactly where needed, maintaining composure even during the high temperatures and changing road surfaces typical of the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a showcase of modern luxury, featuring seating for five and the iconic 64-color ambient lighting system that enhances the interior atmosphere during night drives. Dual 12.3-inch high-resolution displays dominate the dashboard, providing clear navigation even in bright daylight. The acoustic insulation is world-class, keeping the cabin cool and quiet against the outside heat and wind noise during long-distance travel.

Safety

Standard safety features include Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and the ATTENTION ASSIST system, which is particularly useful for detecting driver fatigue during long desert highway stints. The 2019 CLS also features Pre-Safe sound, which protects hearing during a collision, and a robust airbag system. This American-spec model includes high-intensity LED headlights and a 360-degree camera system to assist with parking in tight urban spaces.

The bottom line

This CLS450 4MATIC is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants S-Class levels of technology and engine refinement in a much more athletic, head-turning design. Its below-average mileage and classic color choice make it a standout value opportunity in the current UAE market.
