Summary

This 7-year-old Mercedes-AMG G63 is a standout example of the W463A generation, featuring the desirable GCC specification and a timeless black exterior that historically leads resale demand in the UAE. With mileage that reflects typical executive use for this model year in the region, it offers a refined yet uncompromising alternative to the more common family SUVs. The 2019 model year represented a significant technological leap for the G-Wagon, introducing a modern interior and improved on-road dynamics while retaining its legendary three-locking-diff off-road hardware. For the GCC buyer, this provides the perfect balance of prestige and performance, capable of transitioning seamlessly from Dubai city traffic to weekend desert overland trips.

This Car vs Other 2019 G63 AMGs

At 73,962 km, this G63 sits well below the average annual mileage for a 7-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where 20,000 km per year is the standard. Its black finish is a high-demand resale color in the local market, offering better value retention than more niche shades. Being a GCC-spec model, it is purpose-built to handle the extreme heat of local summers and maintains a higher trade-in value compared to imported regional specs.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The AMG G63 sits at the top of the G-Class hierarchy, adding the handcrafted V8 biturbo engine and a rear-biased 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system not found on the G500. This trim includes the AMG-specific Panamericana grille, side-exit exhaust pipes, and the advanced Widescreen Cockpit as standard equipment. It also features superior adaptive damping and high-performance braking systems designed for the high-speed highway environments of the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 competes directly with the Range Rover SVR and the Lamborghini Urus, leading the segment with its authentic body-on-frame construction and triple-locking differentials for genuine desert capability. It offers a more upright seating position and iconic boxy dimensions that provide better visibility and presence than its road-biased rivals. The Mercedes also benefits from a larger service network across the GCC compared to more boutique performance SUV brands.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 15.7 L/100km, though this can increase in heavy city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai. The G-Class is one of the strongest value-retaining luxury vehicles in the GCC, typically depreciating slower than its European counterparts due to cult-like demand. Authorized service centers are widely available in every major GCC city, with recommended service intervals occurring every 15,000 km or 12 months.

Performance & Capability

With 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque, the G63 delivers effortless highway overtaking even at high ambient temperatures. The 2.93:1 low-range reduction gear and 241 mm ground clearance make it exceptionally capable for sand dune driving and soft-surface navigation. The 9-speed TCT transmission provides rapid shifts, allowing this 5-door SUV to reach a top speed of 220 km/h with remarkable stability for its shape.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features the updated 2019 digital architecture, including dual 12.3-inch displays and the COMAND infotainment system suited for long desert drives. The cooling system is specifically engineered for the Middle East, ensuring the cabin reaches comfortable temperatures rapidly even after being parked in direct sunlight. High-grade leather seating and acoustic glass help isolate passengers from the heat and wind noise typical of GCC highway travel.

Safety

Standard safety features include the full Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC suite and Blind Spot Assist, which are essential for navigating the fast-paced, multi-lane highways of the region. The vehicle is equipped with a 360-degree camera system to assist in parking its large dimensions in tight city spaces. Active Brake Assist and Lane Keeping Assist provide further layers of protection during long-distance travel between emirates.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec G63 is the ideal opportunity for a buyer seeking the iconic 'G' presence with a modern interior and verified local provenance at a significant saving compared to new models.
