Summary

This 2019 Mitsubishi Montero Sport is an exceptional find in the GCC market, offering a perfect balance between family utility and rugged off-road prowess. With mileage that sits well below the average for a vehicle of this age in the region, it presents a long-term ownership advantage for anyone looking for a reliable daily driver. The GLS MIDLINE trim provides essential tech and comfort upgrades that significantly enhance the driving experience compared to base models, making it a highly desirable specification for resale. Mitsubishi remains one of the most trusted brands across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, largely due to its bulletproof mechanical reliability and an air conditioning system that is specifically engineered to handle 50-degree summer peaks. For a GCC buyer, the most important consideration is the peace of mind that comes from a vehicle designed for these exact terrain and temperature conditions. This particular example, finished in a sophisticated Grey, is a strong investment given how well these SUVs retain their value in the local used market.

This Car vs Other 2019 Montero Sports

When looking at the 2019 used market in the GCC, this Montero Sport stands out due to its mileage of 88,275 km. While the average vehicle in this region covers roughly 20,000 km to 25,000 km annually, this car has been driven approximately 17,500 km per year, placing it in a more preserved category than many of its peers. The Grey exterior is a neutral and popular choice in the UAE, known for hiding desert dust effectively and maintaining a high resale demand compared to bolder colors. Mechanically, a 2019 model is at a sweet spot in its lifecycle where it has proven its reliability without the high maintenance costs associated with much older SUVs. Buyers often prioritize GCC-spec vehicles like this one because they are built with cooling systems and radiators specifically uprated for the Middle Eastern climate. Choosing this specific unit means you are getting a vehicle that has spent less time on the road than the regional average, which translates to less wear on the suspension and powertrain.

GLS MIDLINE vs Lower Trims

Moving up to the GLS MIDLINE trim from the base GLX offers several advantages that are highly valued by drivers in the Gulf. This trim includes significant aesthetic and functional upgrades such as 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome exterior accents that give it a more premium presence on the road. Inside, you benefit from a much improved infotainment interface and a more refined cabin finish that makes long-distance travel across the emirates more enjoyable. The inclusion of more sophisticated seat materials and better sound insulation helps keep the cabin quiet during high-speed highway cruising. Furthermore, the MIDLINE adds essential convenience features like a rearview camera and sensors which are vital for maneuvering a 7-seater SUV in tight city parking. For the GCC buyer, these upgrades aren't just about luxury; they directly impact the vehicle’s desirability when it comes time to trade in or sell.

Montero Sport vs Segment Rivals

In the competitive mid-size SUV segment, the Montero Sport frequently goes head-to-head with the Toyota Fortuner and the Isuzu MU-X. While the Fortuner is a formidable rival, the Mitsubishi often wins on ride comfort thanks to its sophisticated suspension setup which feels less truck-like on paved roads. Its 3.0L V6 engine is specifically tuned for a smooth power delivery that rivals often struggle to match with their smaller displacement or diesel-focused lineups. Additionally, the Montero Sport offers a more modern interior layout and a superior Super Select 4WD-II system that allows for shifting between 2WD and 4WD at speeds up to 100 km/h. This flexibility is a major advantage for drivers who frequently transition from the smooth asphalt of the E11 to the gravel tracks of the northern emirates. The cabin packaging also feels more intentional, providing better third-row access than many competitors in this price bracket.

Running Costs & Resale

Running a 3.0L V6 Montero Sport in the GCC is remarkably cost-effective given the vehicle's capability. On the highway, you can expect efficient fuel consumption that makes trips from Dubai to Muscat or Riyadh to Dammam quite economical, while city driving remains manageable for a car of this size. Mitsubishi’s service network is one of the most extensive in the region, with authorized centers readily available from Al Habtoor in the UAE to Al Mulla in Kuwait, ensuring parts are always in stock and reasonably priced. This ease of maintenance contributes to a very low annual depreciation rate, typically between 8% and 10%, which is significantly better than European luxury SUVs. After three years of ownership, a well-maintained GCC-spec Montero Sport remains one of the most liquid assets in the automotive market. The petrol engine is perfectly suited for the high-octane fuel standard across the region, ensuring long-term engine health without the complexities of diesel exhaust systems.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is its 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, which provides ample torque for overtaking on fast-moving highways and the low-end grunt needed for soft sand driving. Its Four Wheel Drive system is a genuine mechanical highlight, featuring a low-range transfer case that allows it to tackle terrain that would stop a standard crossover in its tracks. With a generous ground clearance of 218 mm, you can confidently navigate rocky wadis and high dunes during weekend adventures. The 8-speed automatic transmission is a standout in this model year, offering much smoother shifts and better fuel optimization than the older 5 or 6-speed units found in some rivals. Whether you are towing a jet ski to the coast or loaded with a full family of seven, the power delivery remains consistent and predictable. The vehicle’s turning radius is also surprisingly tight for its size, making it far more agile in urban environments than one might expect from a body-on-frame 4x4.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the Montero Sport is designed with the large GCC family in mind, offering seven full-sized seats that can be configured to maximize cargo space or passenger comfort. The air conditioning system is world-class, featuring dedicated rear cooling vents that ensure even the third-row passengers stay comfortable during the peak of summer. Cabin insulation is particularly impressive, shielding occupants from the heat and wind noise during long-distance desert drives. The GLS MIDLINE upholstery is durable and easy to clean, which is a practical necessity for families who enjoy beach trips and desert outings. Storage is plentiful throughout the cabin, with numerous cup holders and cubby holes for smartphones and travel essentials. The elevated driving position provides excellent visibility over traffic, while the ergonomics of the dashboard ensure that all controls are within easy reach of the driver.

Safety

Safety is a paramount feature of the GLS MIDLINE trim, which comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems. This includes Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction, which effectively absorbs and redirects energy during a collision. Standard features like Active Stability and Traction Control are particularly useful on the GCC’s sandy and sometimes oil-slicked roads after a rare rain. The vehicle also features multiple airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors, making it a top choice for safety-conscious parents. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist ensure that even when fully loaded, the vehicle can come to a controlled stop in emergency situations. These safety credentials have earned the model top marks in various global NCAP assessments, providing a level of protection that rivals often charge extra for.

The bottom line

This Montero Sport is the ideal choice for a GCC family that needs a rugged, dependable 7-seater that is as comfortable on the school run as it is on a mountain trail. Given its below-average mileage and the high resale value of the GLS MIDLINE trim, this listing represents one of the most sensible and secure purchases in the current used SUV market.
