Summary

This 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser VXR is a rare and highly desirable find in the GCC market, combining the legendary durability of the 4.5L V8 diesel engine with exceptionally low mileage for its age. With only 36,500 km on the odometer, this vehicle has barely begun its lifecycle, especially considering the average GCC driver covers nearly this distance in just eighteen months. The VXR trim represents the high-water mark of luxury and capability for this generation, offering a sophisticated interior that remains comfortable even in the harshest desert heat. While most examples of this year are well into their six-figure mileage, this unit offers a unique opportunity to own a near-new version of the legendary 200-series. The grey exterior is a sophisticated choice that maintains high resale value in the region, second only to white and silver, making it a sound long-term investment. For a buyer seeking the ultimate cross-border cruiser that can handle both the dunes of the Empty Quarter and the fast-paced highways of the UAE, this diesel V8 variant is the most robust tool for the job.

This Car vs Other 2019 Land Cruisers

When comparing this specific unit to other 2019 models currently available in the GCC, the most significant differentiator is the remarkably low mileage. While a typical five-year-old SUV in this region would usually show between 100,000 and 125,000 km, this vehicle’s 36,500 km reading puts it in a different league of mechanical preservation. This lower usage means less wear on the suspension components, the cooling system, and the interior materials, which often suffer under the intense Gulf sun. The grey metallic paint is particularly well-suited for the local environment, as it hides fine desert dust better than black while retaining a more premium aesthetic than standard white. Because it has been driven so sparingly, the engine and drivetrain components haven't been subjected to the high-heat cycles typical of high-mileage GCC commuters. This makes it an ideal candidate for someone looking for a long-term keeper that feels and drives like a much newer vehicle. Buying a low-mileage Land Cruiser is widely considered the safest used car investment one can make in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.

VXR vs Lower Trims

Choosing the VXR trim over the GXR or EXR variants significantly elevates the daily driving experience, particularly through the addition of advanced hydraulic suspension and premium cabin materials. The VXR is equipped with the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), which provides better high-speed stability on the E11 highway while allowing for greater wheel articulation when navigating soft sand. Inside, you will find higher-grade leather upholstery and more sophisticated wood-grain trim that sets it apart from the more utilitarian lower grades. This trim also standardizes essential GCC comfort features such as multi-zone climate control with independent rear adjustment and ventilated front seats, which are indispensable during the peak summer months. Additionally, the VXR typically includes a more comprehensive infotainment suite and a premium audio system that makes long inter-city drives across the Emirates much more enjoyable. For the discerning buyer, the VXR provides the perfect balance of rugged 4x4 capability and the executive-level luxury expected of a flagship SUV. It is the trim that holds its value most consistently because it is the most sought-after by second-hand buyers across the entire Gulf region.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser occupies a unique position in the GCC market, often cross-shopped against the Nissan Patrol and the Lexus LX. Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Toyota's 4.5L V8 diesel engine offers superior low-end torque, which is a massive advantage when towing heavy loads or climbing steep dunes where steady power delivery is vital. While European rivals like the Land Rover Discovery might offer more on-road agility, they cannot match the Land Cruiser's reputation for 'bulletproof' reliability in 50°C temperatures. The cooling system in this model is specifically engineered to maintain peak performance even when the engine is under heavy load in extreme heat, a feat many turbocharged European competitors struggle with over time. Furthermore, the Land Cruiser’s dual fuel tank system provides a total range that few in the segment can rival, making it the preferred choice for those who frequently drive between Dubai and Salalah or Riyadh. Its body-on-frame construction ensures a level of structural longevity that monocoque SUVs simply cannot replicate over decades of use. In the GCC, the Land Cruiser isn't just a car; it's a regional staple that outclasses rivals in terms of parts availability and mechanical familiarity.

Running Costs & Resale

Ownership costs for this diesel-powered V8 are surprisingly manageable given its size and capability. The 4.5L diesel engine is famous for its fuel efficiency on long highway stints, often outperforming its petrol counterparts by a significant margin during cross-country drives. In the GCC, servicing is remarkably straightforward, with an authorized Toyota service center found in almost every major town from Abu Dhabi to Muscat, ensuring that maintenance is never a logistical burden. Parts are exceptionally easy to source, both genuine and aftermarket, which keeps long-term repair costs much lower than those of German or British luxury SUVs. This model boasts the lowest depreciation rate in its class, often retaining up to 75-80% of its value after three years in the local market, provided it is well-maintained. The resale market for the 200-series Land Cruiser has remained incredibly strong even after the release of the newer 300-series, as many purists still prefer the V8 engine and the proven platform. This specific low-mileage example is likely to depreciate even slower than average, as it appeals to collectors and high-end exporters alike. Investing in this vehicle is essentially as close as one can get to 'parking' money in a liquid asset within the automotive world.

Performance & Capability

Under the hood lies the 4.5-liter V8 twin-turbo diesel, a powerhouse that delivers 272 horsepower and a massive amount of torque from very low in the rev range. This torque-heavy profile makes it an exceptional towing vehicle, capable of hauling large boats or horse trailers with ease across the Emirates. Off-road, the Land Cruiser is a master of its craft, featuring a proper low-range transfer case and Crawl Control, which acts as an off-road cruise control for navigating difficult terrain like deep sand or rocky wadis. The 4WD system is permanent, providing constant grip on slippery surfaces or during sudden rainstorms on the highway. With a generous ground clearance and optimized approach and departure angles, there are very few places in the GCC this vehicle cannot reach. On the highway, the V8 provides effortless overtaking power, allowing you to move from 100 to 140 km/h with a sense of calm and stability. The automatic transmission is tuned for durability and smooth shifts, ensuring that whether you are in stop-start Sharjah traffic or cruising at speed toward Liwa, the drive remains refined and composed.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of this VXR is a sanctuary designed for the GCC’s demanding environment, featuring a spacious 7-seat layout that accommodates large families without compromise. The air conditioning system is widely regarded as the best in the industry, capable of chilling the massive cabin in a matter of minutes even after it has been parked in direct sunlight. High-quality leather seats provide excellent support for long journeys, and the front seats are equipped with ventilation to keep occupants cool and dry. The second row offers ample legroom for adults, while the third row can be easily folded away to create a cavernous boot space for camping gear or shopping trips to Dubai Mall. Sound insulation is top-tier, effectively blocking out road noise and the roar of the desert wind, allowing for quiet conversations or an immersive experience with the premium audio system. Every touchpoint, from the steering wheel to the door armrests, feels robust and premium, designed to withstand years of use. For those who value a commanding view of the road and a feeling of absolute security, the Land Cruiser cabin is an unmatched environment.

Safety

Safety is a paramount feature of the VXR trim, which comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems. Multiple airbags, including curtain and knee airbags, provide a protective cocoon for all seven passengers, contributing to its 5-star safety rating. On the fast-moving, multi-lane highways of the UAE, the stability control and traction management systems work silently in the background to keep the vehicle planted during sudden maneuvers. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are particularly useful in a vehicle of this size, making lane changes and parking in tight city spots much safer. The braking system is robust, designed to bring this heavy SUV to a halt confidently even when fully loaded. Furthermore, the high driving position provides excellent natural visibility, allowing the driver to see over smaller cars and anticipate traffic flow well in advance. For families, the inclusion of ISOFIX child seat anchors and child-proof rear door locks ensures that the youngest passengers are always secure. It is a vehicle designed not just to take you anywhere, but to bring you back safely every single time.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a legendary V8 diesel Land Cruiser in near-showroom condition with mileage that is practically unheard of for a 2019 model in the GCC. It is the perfect choice for the serious overland adventurer or the family man who values ultimate reliability and the highest possible resale value.
