Summary

This 2019 Land Cruiser GXR offers the ideal balance of V8 power and legendary Toyota reliability, finished in black—the most sought-after resale color in the UAE. With just under 99,000 km, it sits perfectly within the average mileage expectation for a GCC-spec workhorse, ensuring it has years of trouble-free service remaining. The 4.6L V8 provides smoother, more refined highway cruising than the entry-level V6 while maintaining lower running costs than the 5.7L flagship. For a buyer in the Gulf, there is no safer automotive investment than a well-maintained Land Cruiser, which continues to dominate its segment in both durability and value retention. It remains the ultimate choice for families who need a daily commuter that can seamlessly transition into a desert explorer on the weekends.

This Car vs Other 2019 Land Cruisers

With 98,932 km, this vehicle is well within the typical GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km, suggesting consistent use rather than neglect or heavy commercial wear. Its black exterior is a high-demand resale color in this market, often commanding a quicker sale and better price floor compared to less traditional shades. Being a GCC-spec model, it features the cooling and filtration systems specifically designed to handle the region's extreme summer heat.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim is the preferred mid-range choice in the GCC, adding significant interior refinements over the base EXR. While the EXR often makes do with fabric seating and basic displays, the GXR typically introduces upgraded infotainment, better cabin materials, and enhanced off-road hardware like Multi-Terrain Select. It provides the premium feel families expect without the high-maintenance complexity of the top-tier VXR's hydraulic suspension systems.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads in long-term mechanical simplicity and the sheer density of its service network across the entire GCC, from the UAE to Saudi Arabia. While rivals may offer slightly more cabin tech, the Toyota’s body-on-frame construction and resale stability are unmatched for buyers prioritizing durability. Its 93-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops on long cross-border drives compared to many unibody luxury SUVs.

Running Costs & Resale

Land Cruisers are famous for having the slowest depreciation rates in the Gulf, typically retaining 10–15% more value than European luxury rivals after three years. The 4.6L V8 is a robust, naturally aspirated unit designed for 10,000 km service intervals, which are affordable and widely available at authorized centers throughout the region. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 14.3 L/100km, which is efficient for a full-sized 8-seater V8 SUV.

Performance & Capability

The 304 hp V8 engine delivers a respectable 0–100 km/h time of 9.2 seconds, providing ample torque for overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways. Off-road, the vehicle excels with a dedicated low-range transfer case and Crawl Control, allowing it to navigate soft dunes that would stall most crossovers. With 230 mm of ground clearance, it is purpose-built for both rocky wadis and deep sand, supported by a 6-speed automatic transmission tuned for high-heat durability.

Comfort & Cabin

This 8-seater configuration is designed for the modern GCC family, featuring a powerful multi-zone climate control system engineered to reach the third row even in 50°C summer peaks. The cabin is exceptionally well-insulated from wind and road noise, ensuring comfort during long drives between emirates. The GXR trim includes thoughtful touches like a cooled center console, perfect for keeping beverages cold during long weekend road trips.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive, featuring a suite of 10 airbags as standard on this trim to protect all three rows of passengers. Standard active safety systems include Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), and a Rear-View Camera with parking sensors to manage its large footprint in tight city spaces. The body-on-frame design provides a rugged safety cell that is highly regarded for its performance in both on-road collisions and off-road mishaps.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who needs one car to do everything—from school runs in Dubai to weekend expeditions in the Liwa desert—this V8 GXR is the most reliable and financially sound choice on the market today.
