Summary

This 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser VXR represents the high-water mark for the LC300 generation, pairing its powerful twin-turbo engine with the most advanced suspension technology available in the lineup. Finished in a beige that holds its value exceptionally well in the GCC, this VXR trim offers a significant step up in refinement and technology over the GXR. It is widely considered the gold standard for regional owners who demand a vehicle capable of high-speed highway cruising and serious weekend desert exploration. With its GCC-specific cooling and legendary reliability, this Land Cruiser remains the most sensible long-term investment in the large SUV segment.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

While many Land Cruisers in the GCC market cover high highway miles quickly, this VXR’s condition and specification make it a standout choice for those seeking the flagship LC300 experience. The beige exterior is not only practical for the local climate but is also one of the most sought-after colors for resale across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Choosing a 2022 model allows buyers to secure the current generation's performance upgrades while avoiding the steep initial depreciation of a showroom-fresh unit.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR adds critical performance and luxury hardware that the GXR and EXR lack, most notably the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) which dramatically improves ride quality on rough terrain and stability at highway speeds. Inside, the VXR is distinguished by a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display, a 14-speaker JBL premium audio system, and ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers—a vital feature for GCC summers. It also includes the full Toyota Safety Sense suite and a 360-degree camera as standard, providing a more executive feel than the workhorse-oriented lower trims.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser LC300 is most frequently cross-shopped against the Nissan Patrol and the Lexus LX. While the Patrol offers a traditional V8 experience, the Land Cruiser leads with its modern twin-turbo efficiency and a 110-litre fuel tank that provides superior range for long-distance desert crossings. Its body-on-frame construction and extensive GCC-wide service network give it a durability advantage over monocoque rivals like the Land Rover Defender, especially when subjected to the region's extreme heat and sand.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the twin-turbo V6 typically ranges between 14 and 16 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions, offering better efficiency than the outgoing V8 models. Service intervals are standardized at 10,000 km, supported by the most extensive authorized service network in the Middle East, ensuring parts are readily available even in remote areas. Historically, the Land Cruiser VXR retains its value better than almost any other vehicle in the region, typically depreciating at a much lower annual rate than European luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The 409 hp twin-turbo engine delivers a 0–100 km/h time of approximately 6.7 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving UAE highways. Off-road, the VXR utilizes a sophisticated 4WD system with a center differential lock and a low-range transfer case, complemented by Multi-Terrain Select which optimizes traction for sand, rock, or mud. With 235 mm of ground clearance and advanced E-KDSS suspension, it handles deep dunes and rocky wadis with a level of composure that few other vehicles can match.

Comfort & Cabin

The VXR cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring four-zone climate control with powerful GCC-spec cooling and dedicated vents for all passengers. This specific 5-seater configuration maximizes cargo space, making it ideal for overland expeditions or family trips between emirates. High-quality leather upholstery and an integrated cool box in the center console ensure a premium experience during the height of the summer months, while acoustic glass helps maintain a quiet environment at high cruising speeds.

Safety

This VXR trim comes equipped with the comprehensive Toyota Safety Sense package, featuring Pre-Collision System, Lane Trace Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control which is particularly useful on long desert highways. The 360-degree panoramic view monitor makes maneuvering this large SUV in tight urban parking spaces far easier, while the inclusion of 10 airbags and blind-spot monitoring provides essential protection in fast-moving multi-lane traffic.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who wants the ultimate blend of desert-proven durability and flagship luxury, this VXR is the definitive choice that will hold its value for years to come.
