Summary

This 2019 Toyota Prado VXR is a standout find in the GCC market, combining the sought-after VXR flagship trim with the efficiency of the 2.8L turbo-diesel engine. With only 55,000 km, this vehicle is well below the typical UAE average for its age, offering significant mechanical longevity. The black exterior is a high-demand resale choice in the region, ensuring it holds its value better than lighter or more niche shades. As a diesel-powered model, it serves as the ultimate long-distance cruiser, capable of crossing borders or tackling remote desert roads with fewer fuel stops than its petrol counterparts. For a GCC buyer, this represents a rare opportunity to own a top-spec, low-mileage workhorse with Toyota's legendary reliability.

This Car vs Other 2019 Prados

At just 55,000 km, this Prado has been driven approximately 11,000 km per year, which is less than half the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen in the UAE. This low usage translates to significantly less wear on the suspension and drivetrain components. The black exterior is a tier-one resale color in the GCC, providing a major advantage when it comes time to trade in compared to less common finishes.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim sits at the top of the hierarchy, adding essential GCC luxuries that the EXR and GXL trims lack, such as a premium 9-speaker audio system and ventilated front seats—a necessity for the local summer. It also features a larger 9-inch touchscreen with integrated navigation and a power-adjustable steering column. Visually, the VXR is distinguished by additional chrome accents and premium LED lighting that give it a more executive presence.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mitsubishi Pajero, the Prado leads in overall fuel range thanks to its 110-litre dual-tank configuration (80L + 30L), making it better suited for long expeditions across the UAE and Oman. While the Ford Everest offers more modern tech, the Prado maintains a significant lead in resale value retention and parts availability across every small town in the GCC. The diesel 2.8L engine provides 500 Nm of torque, outmuscling many petrol-only rivals for low-speed sand recovery and towing.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.8L diesel engine is highly efficient for its size, returning approximately 7.9 to 8.5 L/100km on highway drives, which is substantially lower than the 4.0L V6 petrol alternative. Toyota maintains the strongest value retention in the GCC market, with the Prado typically losing only 8-10% of its value annually. Authorized service centers are available in every major city across the UAE, KSA, and Oman, with standard service intervals every 10,000 km keeping maintenance predictable.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with 500 Nm of torque, this Prado is built for steady progress over challenging terrain rather than raw highway speed. The low-range transfer case and locking center differential are standard, allowing it to handle soft sand dunes and rocky wadis with ease. A 210 mm ground clearance and a 31-degree approach angle ensure it can navigate deep ruts and steep inclines without damaging the underbody. The diesel powertrain is particularly suited for heavy-duty use in high ambient temperatures without the overheating risks common in smaller engines.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for seven passengers, with flat-folding third-row seats that provide a versatile cargo area. For the GCC climate, the triple-zone climate control includes dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers stay cool during the summer months. High-quality leather upholstery and an electric sunroof enhance the premium feel of the VXR cabin, while acoustic glass helps insulate the interior from highway wind noise and desert heat.

Safety

The VXR trim includes a comprehensive safety suite featuring Blind Spot Monitoring, which is invaluable on the UAE's fast-moving multi-lane highways. It is equipped with seven airbags and advanced stability control systems that assist in maintaining traction on loose gravel or sand. Rear parking sensors and a high-resolution reversing camera are standard, making this large SUV much easier to maneuver in tight city parking spaces.

The bottom line

This is a rare low-mileage diesel VXR that offers the perfect balance of flagship luxury and long-range durability for the serious GCC adventurer.
