Summary

This 2019 Toyota Prado GXR represents a rare find in the GCC market, combining exceptionally low mileage with one of the region's most resilient resale colors. As a GXR trim, it strikes the perfect balance between daily urban practicality and the rugged mechanical DNA that has made the Prado a desert icon. The 2.7L engine offers a more fuel-efficient entry point into the Land Cruiser family, making it an ideal choice for families prioritizing school runs and city commutes alongside weekend adventures. With Toyota's unmatched service footprint across the Emirates, long-term ownership is as straightforward as it is reliable. For a buyer seeking the legendary Prado durability without the high-mileage wear typical of the segment, this silver GXR is a standout opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2019 Prados

With just over 31,000 km on the odometer, this Prado has been driven significantly less than the 20,000–25,000 km annual average typical for the GCC. This low usage places it in the top tier of available 2019 models, offering a mechanical freshness that is hard to replicate. The silver exterior is not only a neutral choice but one of the strongest colors for maintaining resale value in the local market.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides essential upgrades over the base EXR, including standard roof rails and a sunroof that enhance both utility and cabin light. Inside, the GXR often benefits from a more advanced tri-zone climate control system, ensuring that all seven passengers remain comfortable during the peak of the GCC summer. These additions make the GXR more desirable for families and help it command a higher premium in the used market.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

The Prado consistently leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero and Chevrolet Traverse in terms of pure off-road heritage and long-term durability. While competitors may offer more car-like on-road handling, the Prado’s body-on-frame construction and 87-litre fuel tank make it far better suited for the long-distance desert highway drives and rugged terrain encountered in the UAE and Oman. Its reputation for reliability in extreme heat remains the benchmark for the mid-size SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L powertrain is designed for longevity and ease of maintenance, with routine service intervals typically every 10,000 km at authorized Toyota centers found in every major GCC city. Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 12.4 L/100km, reflecting its capability in varied local driving conditions. The Prado is renowned for having the slowest depreciation rate in its class, typically retaining a high percentage of its value even after several years of use, making it one of the safest financial investments in the automotive market.

Performance & Capability

The 164 hp 2.7L engine is paired with a robust four-wheel-drive system and a 215 mm ground clearance, allowing it to navigate sandy tracks and wadis with confidence. While geared more towards efficiency and durability than high-speed sprints, it provides consistent torque for highway overtaking and navigating city traffic. The Prado’s legendary suspension is tuned to soak up road imperfections, providing a stable and comfortable ride whether you are commuting between emirates or heading off the beaten path.

Comfort & Cabin

This seven-seater SUV is designed for the GCC family lifestyle, featuring dedicated rear cooling vents to maintain a pleasant temperature in the second and third rows. The cabin is insulated to protect against outside heat, and the GXR trim includes a cooled center console box, perfect for keeping drinks chilled during long drives. Flexible seating allows for a flat-folding rear row, significantly expanding the boot space for camping gear or large grocery runs.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite including multiple airbags, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Active Traction Control (ATRC), which is particularly useful on loose sand. Standard parking sensors and a rearview camera assist with urban maneuvering in tight spaces. Its high seating position provides excellent visibility, a key advantage for safety on fast-moving multi-lane highways.

The bottom line

This low-mileage silver GXR is the definitive choice for a GCC buyer who wants the peace of mind of a new car with the proven reliability and value retention of the Toyota Prado.
