Summary

This 2020 Durango GT strikes a perfect balance for GCC families, offering the muscular presence of a Dodge with a sensible V6 powertrain that manages city traffic and long desert highways with ease. The GT trim is particularly sought after in the UAE used market for its upgraded 20-inch wheels and sportier exterior styling compared to the base SXT. With its Red exterior and GCC regional specifications, this listing represents a strong resale opportunity, as these factors typically command a premium locally. At 115,500 km, the vehicle has been used consistently for its age, aligning well with typical highway-heavy driving patterns in the region. For a buyer needing seven usable seats without the higher running costs of a V8, this is a highly practical choice.

This Car vs Other 2020 Durangos

At 115,500 km, this Durango sits exactly at the average expected mileage for a 4-year-old SUV in the GCC, where annual distances of 25,000 km are standard. The Red exterior is a bold choice that holds its value well among enthusiast buyers in the UAE. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a cooling system and AC configuration designed to handle 45°C+ summer peaks, unlike imported North American models.

GT vs Lower Trims

The GT trim significantly upgrades the Durango's road presence over the SXT by adding 20-inch alloy wheels and a performance-inspired front fascia with a black grille. Inside, the GT provides seven seats as standard, whereas the third row was often an option on lower trims. It also includes a power liftgate and rear park assist, features that are highly valued for daily supermarket and school runs in the region.

Durango vs Segment Rivals

The Durango stands out against rivals like the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot by offering a class-leading 93-litre fuel tank, which is essential for long-distance drives between Emirates. Its rear-wheel-drive based platform gives it a more planted, 'muscle-car' feel on the highway compared to its front-drive-biased competitors. Additionally, it offers more standard third-row legroom than many European luxury crossovers in the same size category.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L V6 is known for its durability and relatively efficient highway consumption of approximately 9.6 L/100km, which is impressive for a vehicle of this size. Service intervals at authorized centers across the GCC are typically every 10,000 km, and parts availability is excellent due to Dodge's established regional network. The Durango GT maintains one of the better resale values for American SUVs in the UAE, typically seeing a 12-15% annual depreciation rate.

Performance & Capability

The 295 hp Pentastar V6 provides smooth, reliable power for overtaking on the E11 and is paired with a class-leading 8-speed automatic transmission. While this is the road-biased RWD version, the Durango offers a high ground clearance that easily manages gravel paths and soft sand tracks common near residential developments. It is also a capable tower, suited for light boat or jet ski trailers.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for seven passengers, featuring a 'Fold & Tumble' second row that makes accessing the back seats remarkably easy for adults. The tri-zone climate control is a standout feature, ensuring that even third-row passengers stay cool during the peak of the UAE summer. High-quality soft-touch materials on the dashboard and the Uconnect infotainment system provide a premium feel for long family road trips.

Safety

Standard safety features on the GT trim include Blind-Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Path Detection, which are vital for navigating the fast-moving, multi-lane traffic of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It also comes equipped with seven airbags and electronic stability control with ready-alert braking. The heavy-duty disc brakes are designed to provide consistent stopping power even under the thermal stress of high GCC ambient temperatures.

The bottom line

A well-specified, GCC-spec family SUV that offers American muscle styling with V6 efficiency, making it the ideal upgrade for a growing family in the UAE.
