Summary

This 2020 QX80 LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE represents a highly specified example of Infiniti's flagship SUV, offering a blend of traditional V8 muscle and modern driver assistance. While the mileage reflects active use, the 5.6L naturally aspirated engine is renowned across the GCC for its long-term durability and highway cruising comfort. The Blue exterior provides a refreshing alternative to the common monochromatic palette while maintaining strong professional appeal in the local market. As an American spec vehicle, it offers a high equipment level including the advanced ProActive and Sensory packages, making it a capable family choice for cross-border road trips. For a GCC buyer, this model stands out for its robust body-on-frame construction and extensive service support through the region's wide Nissan-Infiniti network.

This Car vs Other 2020 QX80s

With 178,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km, yet its mechanical suitability for high-speed highway travel remains a core strength. While GCC spec cars often command a premium, this American spec model compensates with a significantly higher level of interior tech and safety systems than standard local trims. The Blue exterior is a sophisticated choice that holds up well under the intense regional sun compared to darker blacks.

LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE vs Lower Trims

The LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE trim adds critical upgrades that GCC buyers value, most notably the Hydraulic Body Motion Control which significantly reduces body roll on highway curves. The Sensory package introduces a 17-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system and climate-controlled front seats, essential for the summer heat. Additionally, the ProActive package includes a Smart Rear View Mirror and speed-sensitive steering, features often missing on the base Luxe trim.

QX80 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Lexus LX 570, the QX80 offers a more modern infotainment interface for the 2020 model year and a competitive 3,856 kg towing capacity for weekend marine activities. Against the Cadillac Escalade, it provides a more truck-based, durable feel that resonates with desert-lifestyle buyers. Its 98-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops during long-distance drives between Dubai and Riyadh compared to smaller-tank rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 15.5 L/100km, though this can rise in stop-start city traffic in major hubs like Dubai or Doha. The QX80 benefits from one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the GCC, as parts share high commonality with the Nissan Patrol. While it experiences higher initial depreciation than some Japanese rivals, it settles into a stable value bracket after the 150,000 km mark, making it a predictable asset for secondary owners. Maintenance is straightforward, with major service intervals typically occurring every 10,000 km at authorized centers.

Performance & Capability

The 5.6-litre V8 produces 400 hp and 560 Nm of torque, delivering a manufacturer-claimed 0-100 km/h time of approximately 7.5 seconds. The All-Mode 4WD system includes a dedicated Tow mode and Snow mode, which are effectively utilized for boat launching and stability on loose sand or gravel. Its body-on-frame architecture provides the structural integrity needed for occasional off-road excursions and heavy-duty family logistics across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

Configured with 7 seats, this cabin features second-row captain's chairs that prioritize passenger comfort and ease of access to the third row. The Tri-Zone Automatic Temperature Control is specifically engineered to handle extreme temperatures, ensuring rapid cooling for all three rows even in peak summer. Semi-aniline quilted leather and a power-folding third row enhance the practical luxury feel required for high-end family transport.

Safety

Standard safety tech on this ProActive trim is comprehensive, featuring Predictive Forward Collision Warning that monitors two vehicles ahead—a vital tool on fast GCC highways. It also includes Blind Spot Intervention, Lane Departure Prevention, and a 360-degree Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection. These active systems are complemented by a full suite of airbags and a reinforced cabin structure designed for maximum occupant protection.

The bottom line

This is a prime opportunity for a large family or executive buyer who wants the full luxury feature set of a flagship SUV without the price tag of a brand-new model. It is particularly suited for those who prioritize highway comfort and the reliability of a naturally aspirated V8.
