Summary

This 2020 Pajero represents the final evolution of a legendary 4x4, offering a white exterior that remains the gold standard for resale value across the Emirates. With mileage that aligns perfectly with the higher annual averages of the GCC market, it stands out for its bulletproof reliability and unmatched parts availability from Muscat to Riyadh. As a GLS Highline, you're getting the most refined version of this platform, featuring premium audio and a cabin built to handle decades of desert heat. For a buyer who prioritizes mechanical simplicity and long-term ownership security, this Pajero is a strategic alternative to more fragile modern crossovers.

This Car vs Other 2020 Pajeros

At 85,574 km, this vehicle's usage is well within the typical range for a GCC-based SUV, where long-distance highway commutes are standard. The white exterior is a major advantage for the local market, as it effectively manages heat and remains the most sought-after color for maintaining high resale value. Compared to other 2020 models on the market, this GLS Highline trim offers a more complete feature set that is highly valued by second-hand buyers.

GLS HIGHLINE vs Lower Trims

The Highline trim upgrades the ownership experience with a premium 12-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system and high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps that are essential for nighttime desert or highway visibility. Unlike the standard GLS, this trim includes a factory refrigerator in the center console and power-adjustable leather seating, features that significantly improve comfort during the extreme GCC summer months. These additions aren't just luxuries; they are key differentiators that local buyers look for at the time of resale.

Pajero vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Toyota Prado often command a higher entry price, the Pajero offers a comparable 88-litre fuel tank that is ideal for long cross-border drives. Its unique monocoque chassis with an integrated frame provides a more stable highway ride than the ladder-frame Nissan Patrol Safari, while still offering a genuine low-range transfer case for weekend dune drives. The Pajero leads in cabin visibility, with large upright windows that provide better situational awareness in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.8L V6 is a robust engine designed to run efficiently on widely available fuel grades across the region, typically consuming around 13.5L/100km in mixed GCC driving. Maintenance is exceptionally straightforward, with Mitsubishi’s authorized service network being one of the most extensive in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Thanks to its status as a discontinued icon, the 2020 Pajero has shown a stabilized depreciation curve, often holding its value better than newer, more complex European competitors. Owners can expect manageable service costs and high demand when it comes time to sell.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with the Super Select II 4WD system, this Pajero allows you to shift between 2WD and 4WD at speeds up to 100 km/h, perfect for sudden changes in road conditions. The 3.8L V6 engine delivers a smooth, torque-heavy performance that makes highway overtaking effortless even with a full load of seven passengers. Off the tarmac, its 225 mm ground clearance and locking rear differential ensure it can handle challenging desert terrain that would stop most soft-roaders. It remains one of the few vehicles in its price bracket that truly balances daily city commuting with genuine overland capability.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the seven-seat configuration offers a flexible layout, with the third row capable of folding completely flat into the floor for maximum cargo space. The GCC-spec air conditioning system is renowned for its power, featuring dedicated rear vents to keep all passengers cool during peak summer. Highline models also benefit from acoustic glass that reduces wind noise during high-speed cruising between emirates. The inclusion of smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensures the cabin feels modern and connected for daily use.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of six airbags and a high-strength reinforced body designed for impact protection. Active safety features include a robust Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), which provide reliable stopping power on sandy or wet surfaces. Standard traction and stability control systems are particularly useful for maintaining grip on fast-moving highways and uneven gravel tracks, ensuring peace of mind for family road trips.

The bottom line

This Pajero is the ideal choice for a GCC family or adventurer looking for a reliable, high-spec 4x4 that has already survived the steepest part of its depreciation. It offers the perfect mix of white-on-white resale appeal and the top-tier GLS Highline features, making it one of the most sensible long-term buys in the current used market.
