Summary

This 2020 Nissan Armada SL is a robust full-size choice for families needing both space and serious towing power in the GCC. With its blue exterior and mid-tier SL trim, it offers the ideal balance of leather-appointed luxury without the premium price of the Platinum grade. The 5.6-litre V8 engine is a proven performer for long highway stretches across the Emirates, providing effortless overtaking even with a full cabin. While many rivals have moved to smaller turbocharged engines, the Armada's naturally aspirated V8 offers a traditional driving feel that many local buyers still prefer for its long-term reliability. At six years old with 111,801 km, this vehicle has been driven well within the expected annual range for a large SUV in this market.

This Car vs Other 2020 Nissan Armadas

With 111,801 km on the clock, this Armada sits right at the average for a six-year-old large SUV in the GCC, where 20,000–25,000 km per year is standard for cross-emirate commuting. The blue exterior is a unique alternative to the sea of white and silver models, offering a distinctive look while still maintaining respectable resale appeal in the UAE. Its rear-wheel-drive configuration is particularly efficient for those who primarily use their SUV for highway cruising rather than off-road dune bashing.

SL vs Lower Trims

The SL trim is a significant step up from the base SV, adding essential GCC comforts like leather-appointed seating and a power liftgate for convenience at the mall or school drop-off. Technology is boosted with the Intelligent Around View Monitor, giving you a 360-degree top-down view that makes parking this large SUV in tight Dubai spaces much easier. You also get 20-inch machine-finished alloy wheels and remote engine start, allowing you to cool the cabin before stepping into the summer heat.

Armada vs Segment Rivals

The Armada leads its class in raw towing capacity, out-muscling the Toyota Sequoia of the same era with a massive 3,856 kg rating. Compared to the Ford Expedition, the Nissan offers a more classic body-on-frame durability and a 13-meter turning circle that is relatively agile for a vehicle of this footprint. Its standard 13-speaker Bose audio system provides a richer acoustic experience than the base systems found in many American rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.6L V8 typically averages around 15.4 L/100km, though highway cruising between cities can see this drop toward 13 L/100km. Nissan has one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the region, with Al Masaood and Arabian Automobiles providing comprehensive coverage across the UAE and Petromin in Saudi Arabia. Parts are widely available and affordable compared to European luxury SUVs, ensuring that maintenance costs remain predictable as the vehicle ages.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is the 390 hp V8 engine, which produces 534 Nm of torque, ensuring you never feel underpowered even when the vehicle is at its 8-passenger capacity. The 7-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth highway shifts, making the long drive from Dubai to Muscat or Abu Dhabi exceptionally comfortable. Despite its size, the independent double-wishbone suspension at all four corners provides a more composed ride on tarmac than many traditional truck-based competitors.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Armada is a true 8-seater with a genuine adult-sized third row and a 120-volt household-style power outlet for charging devices on the go. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard, with dedicated rear vents ensuring every passenger stays cool during the peak GCC summer months. The SL trim's leather upholstery and power-adjustable steering wheel with memory functions allow for a personalized and premium driving environment for daily commutes.

Safety

This SL trim comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech, including Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking, which are vital for fast-moving highway traffic. The standard Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert provide an extra layer of protection when changing lanes on multi-lane roads like Sheikh Zayed Road. Additionally, the Intelligent Around View Monitor uses four cameras to detect moving objects near the vehicle, enhancing safety in busy residential areas.

The bottom line

This 2020 Armada SL is a sensible choice for the large family that values V8 power and leather comfort without the high depreciation cost of a brand-new model. It is a proven workhorse perfectly adapted to the demands of GCC highway life.
