Summary

This 2020 Nissan Patrol SE Platinum City represents the ideal balance for a GCC driver who needs the prestige of a flagship SUV without the high running costs of a V8. With its mileage reflecting the high-frequency use typical of long-distance UAE travel, it remains a mechanically robust choice for cross-emirate commuting. The Blue exterior is a sophisticated alternative to the common white and silver, offering distinct road presence while retaining the strong resale value that defines the Patrol in the Middle East. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is purpose-built to handle extreme heat and desert terrain, making it a dependable daily driver and a capable weekend adventurer. The wide availability of parts and service across the region ensures that maintenance remains straightforward even at this stage of its lifecycle.

This Car vs Other 2020 Nissan Patrols

At 206,000 km, this vehicle has been actively utilized for the long-distance highway cruising the GCC is known for, yet it benefits from the 2020 major facelift styling that keeps it looking current. While many Patrols of this age are entry-level XE or SE models, this Platinum City trim offers a significantly higher interior grade that has aged gracefully. Its mileage is consistent with a vehicle used for regular inter-city travel between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and beyond.

SE Platinum City vs Lower Trims

The Platinum City sits at the top of the V6 range, adding high-value features like ventilated front seats and a 360-degree Around View Monitor that are not found on the SE Titanium or T2 trims. Inside, you receive premium quilted leather upholstery and a 13-speaker Bose audio system, providing a luxury experience comparable to the V8 models. Externally, this trim is distinguished by 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels and a more aggressive 'City' bumper design.

Nissan Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol leads the Toyota Land Cruiser in cabin technology and ride comfort, particularly with its independent suspension setup that excels on paved UAE highways. Its massive 140-litre fuel tank provides a significant range advantage over American rivals like the Ford Expedition for long desert journeys. Furthermore, the Patrol’s specific regional popularity ensures it has the strongest secondary market demand of any full-size SUV in the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine is highly regarded for its longevity and is more economical in stop-start city traffic than the larger 5.6L V8, while still accepting standard petrol grades. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, supported by one of the most extensive authorized service networks stretching from the UAE to Saudi Arabia and Oman. The Patrol retains its value exceptionally well, with GCC-spec models traditionally seeing much lower annual depreciation compared to European luxury competitors.

Performance & Capability

Producing 275 hp and 394 Nm of torque, this V6 offers smooth linear power that is perfectly adequate for maintaining cruising speeds on the E11 highway. It is a genuine 4x4 featuring a low-range transfer case and selectable terrain modes (Sand, On-road, Snow, Rock) that allow it to transition from city streets to deep desert dunes instantly. The 7-speed automatic transmission is geared to keep engine RPMs low during high-speed cruising, enhancing long-distance comfort.

Comfort & Cabin

This 8-seater configuration is designed for large families, featuring a powerful tri-zone climate control system engineered specifically to cool the large cabin quickly in 45°C+ summer heat. The Platinum City trim includes ventilated seats that are essential for local comfort, along with rear entertainment screens to keep passengers occupied on long trips. Acoustic glass and high-quality insulation ensure the cabin remains quiet even when driving at highway speeds.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning, and Forward Collision Warning. The 360-degree camera system is particularly useful for maneuvering this large SUV in tight city parking spaces. Standard safety features also include multiple airbags, traction control, and electronic brakeforce distribution, all calibrated to handle the varied surfaces of the GCC region.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking the ultimate GCC family workhorse with premium features and a V6 economy, this high-spec Patrol is a rare opportunity to own a flagship trim at a more accessible price point.
