Nissan Patrol LE TITANIUM The large V8 engine

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 6.6 seconds
• Low-range transfer case with locking differentials
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2020 Nissan Patrol LE Titanium represents a high-spec entry into the most respected SUV lineage in the GCC. While its mileage is typical for a four-year-old regional workhorse, the 400 hp V8 engine remains the gold standard for performance, offering a significant power advantage over V6 models. Black is a perennially strong resale color in the UAE, and the Titanium trim strikes a perfect balance between luxury features and rugged durability. For the local buyer, this is a vehicle built to dominate both the fast-moving lanes of the E11 and the challenging dunes of the Empty Quarter.

This Car vs Other 2020 Patrols

At 155,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is average for the GCC market, where long-distance highway commutes between emirates are common. The black exterior is one of the top three resale colors in the region, ensuring it holds its value better than more niche shades. Choosing the 5.6L V8 variant over the more common 4.0L V6 provides a crucial torque advantage for highway overtaking and desert driving.

LE TITANIUM vs Lower Trims

The LE Titanium is a significant step up from the SE and LE T1 trims, adding high-value features like ventilated front seats and a premium 13-speaker Bose audio system. It also includes the full Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite, featuring a 360° Around View Monitor and adaptive cruise control, which are essential for navigating dense city traffic. The interior is further distinguished by machine-cut 20-inch alloy wheels and upgraded leather upholstery compared to the fabric found in lower grades.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 and the Chevrolet Tahoe, the Patrol leads with its massive 140-litre fuel tank, providing superior range for trans-GCC road trips. Its 400 hp V8 offers more immediate power than the Land Cruiser’s 4.6L unit, while its independent rear suspension provides a smoother highway ride than many body-on-frame competitors. The Patrol’s air conditioning system is widely regarded by local owners as the most effective in the extreme 50°C summer heat.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.6L V8 is a powerful engine with a real-world combined fuel consumption of approximately 16.7 L/100km in GCC conditions. While it requires 95-octane fuel or higher, its legendary mechanical reliability and the massive availability of parts across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman keep long-term maintenance costs predictable. The Patrol traditionally enjoys one of the lowest depreciation rates in the region, typically losing only 8–10% of its value annually compared to 15% for many European luxury rivals.

Performance & Capability

With a verified 0–100 km/h time of 6.6 seconds, this SUV offers surprising agility for its size. The sophisticated All-Mode 4x4 system includes specialized settings for Sand, On-road, Snow, and Rock, paired with a rear differential lock for serious off-roading. With a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity and 273 mm of ground clearance, it is as capable of hauling a boat to the coast as it is crossing soft desert dunes.

Comfort & Cabin

The 8-seat cabin is designed for large family logistics, featuring a tri-zone climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows to combat the summer heat. The LE Titanium trim includes dual touchscreens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, ensuring modern connectivity. Rear-seat passengers benefit from expansive legroom, while the front occupants enjoy climate-controlled seats that provide cooling during long daylight drives.

Safety

The 2020 Patrol is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite tailored for fast-moving regional highways. Standard features include Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, and Blind Spot Warning. The 360° camera system is particularly useful for parking a vehicle of this footprint, while six airbags and a reinforced body-on-frame construction provide robust protection for all eight occupants.

The bottom line

This Patrol is the ideal choice for a family or adventurer looking for the power of the V8 engine and the tech of the Titanium trim without the showroom price tag. It represents a secure investment in a vehicle that is essentially the unofficial national car of the GCC.
