• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Seven seats with all-wheel drive

Summary

This 2020 Toyota Prado VXR is a standout opportunity in the GCC market, offering the rare combination of the updated 2.8L turbo diesel engine with exceptionally low mileage for its age. While most 2020 models in the region have surpassed the 80,000 km mark, this Japanese-spec example sits at just over 27,000 km, representing a significant lifespan advantage for its next owner. The black exterior is a high-demand resale choice in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring the vehicle remains a liquid asset. As a VXR trim, it provides the premium features and cabin refinement that GCC families expect, without the high fuel overhead of the V6 petrol alternatives. For a buyer looking for a durable, long-distance cruiser that handles both city commutes and desert weekends with ease, this listing is a high-value find.

This Car vs Other 2020 Prados

The average annual mileage for a family SUV in the GCC is approximately 20,000 to 25,000 km, meaning a typical 2020 Prado would currently show nearly 100,000 km. At just 27,150 km, this vehicle is in a different category of mechanical wear, offering a 'near-new' experience. The black exterior is one of the strongest resale colors in the local market, holding a distinct value premium over less common shades.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim is a major step up from the entry-level TX and TXL models, adding essential GCC comforts such as ventilated front seats and a more sophisticated multi-zone climate control system. It also features the upgraded 9-inch infotainment display with smartphone integration and premium leather upholstery, providing a luxury feel that lower trims lack. For the driver, the VXR adds a 360-degree camera system, which is invaluable for parking such a large vehicle in tight urban spaces.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Mitsubishi Pajero or the Ford Everest, the Prado leads with its legendary resale value and the sheer density of the Toyota service network across the UAE, KSA, and Oman. Its 150-litre dual fuel tank configuration provides a massive touring range that rivals simply cannot match on long cross-border drives. While competitors might offer more tech-heavy cabins, the Prado’s body-on-frame durability is specifically engineered for the high-heat and sandy conditions of the Middle East.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.8L diesel engine is highly efficient for its size, typically returning between 7.5 and 8.5 L/100km on the highway, making it an ideal choice for those commuting between Emirates. Toyota Prados are famous for having the lowest depreciation rates in the GCC, often retaining up to 85-90% of their value after three years. Service intervals are standard for the region, and parts are readily available at any authorized center from Dubai to Riyadh, ensuring long-term maintenance remains affordable and straightforward.

Performance & Capability

The 2020 update brought a significant power boost to the 2.8L engine, delivering 500 Nm of torque which is perfect for effortless highway overtaking and towing up to 3,000 kg. Its full-time all-wheel-drive system and 220 mm of ground clearance make it a capable companion for light desert driving and gravel tracks. The 6-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth shifts, providing a relaxed experience during the stop-start traffic common in major GCC cities.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is highly flexible, with a third row that can be stowed to provide 553 litres of cargo space for family road trips. In the GCC summer, the powerful air conditioning system and dedicated rear cooling vents ensure all passengers remain comfortable even when temperatures exceed 45°C. The VXR cabin is well-insulated from road and wind noise, creating a quiet environment for long-distance travel across the desert.

Safety

This VXR trim comes equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense suite, including a Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection and Adaptive Cruise Control, which is particularly useful on the long, straight highways of the UAE. It features seven airbags as standard, along with Vehicle Stability Control and Hill-start Assist to maintain composure on sandy or uneven surfaces. The inclusion of Blind Spot Monitoring provides an extra layer of safety during fast-moving highway lane changes.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC buyer who wants the legendary reliability of a Prado but refuses to accept high-mileage wear; it is a rare, low-distance diesel workhorse in a premium trim.
