Summary

This 2021 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S is a rare performance find in the GCC market, especially with delivery mileage of just 85 km. As the 'S' variant, it carries the world’s most powerful series-production four-cylinder engine, offering supercar-level acceleration in a practical four-door body. The Grey exterior is a highly desirable resale color in the UAE, balancing a stealthy aesthetic with strong market demand. While this is a Korean-spec vehicle, it provides a significant value advantage for buyers looking for top-tier AMG performance at a more accessible price point than local GCC-spec equivalents. It stands out as a precision-engineered daily driver that transitions seamlessly from city commuting to high-speed highway cruising.

This Car vs Other 2021 CLA 45 Ss

With only 85 km on the odometer, this vehicle is essentially in showroom condition, far below the typical 60,000 km found on most 2021 models in the GCC. The Grey finish is a perennial favorite in the region, ensuring it remains easier to sell and holds its value better than more niche colors. In a market where high-mileage examples are common, this car represents a unique 'time-capsule' opportunity for a discerning collector or enthusiast.

S vs Lower Trims

The 'S' trim is a major step up from the standard CLA 45 and the entry-level CLA 35. It increases output from 387 hp to 421 hp and adds the AMG Dynamic Plus package as standard, featuring larger six-piston front brakes and the specialized 'Drift Mode.' Inside, you get the AMG Performance steering wheel with dedicated drive-mode dials and the full MBUX infotainment suite, features that are often optional on lower-tier models.

CLA 45 S vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Audi RS3 and BMW M2, the CLA 45 S leads with its sophisticated 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system that includes fully variable torque distribution. It offers more rear legroom and a larger boot than the M2, making it a more viable choice for small families. For long GCC highway drives, its 51-litre fuel tank provides a competitive range compared to smaller-displacement rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this high-performance sedan is approximately 8.9L/100km on a combined cycle, though city driving in heavy traffic will see this rise. As a Korean-spec import, parts are widely available through the extensive Mercedes-Benz network in the UAE, though buyers should verify service compatibility at local authorized centers like Gargash or EMC. It typically experiences slightly higher initial depreciation than GCC-spec cars, providing a lower entry price for the same level of performance.

Performance & Capability

The handcrafted M139 engine delivers an astonishing 421 hp, allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.0 seconds. The 8-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch transmission provides lightning-fast gear changes, essential for overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways. With the 4MATIC+ system and AMG Torque Control, the car maintains incredible grip and stability, even during the rare heavy rain or on sandy road shoulders.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a tech-focused environment featuring the dual 10.25-inch screen MBUX cockpit and AMG performance seats that provide excellent lateral support. The air conditioning system is robust, designed to quickly cool the compact cabin even in peak summer heat. High-quality acoustic insulation ensures that despite the aggressive exhaust note, the interior remains refined during long inter-emirate drives.

Safety

Standard safety features include Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist, which are particularly valuable on multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive acts as a proactive safety layer, managing power to each wheel to prevent loss of traction. This trim also includes a 360-degree camera system, making parking in tight urban spaces significantly easier.

The bottom line

This is a rare chance to own a delivery-mileage AMG flagship at an import-adjusted price, perfect for the driver who wants maximum performance without the new-car showroom premium.
