Summary

This 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 represents the first year of the redesigned second generation, offering the modern aesthetic and tech-forward cabin that GCC buyers currently covet. With its Polar White exterior, it sits in the most popular resale color category for the region, ensuring better value retention when you decide to upgrade. The balance of 123,000 km over 6 years reflects typical highway-heavy usage between emirates, suggesting the car has been kept in its optimal operating temperature rather than enduring the wear of short city bursts. For a driver seeking the prestige of a German luxury sedan with the agility of a compact coupe, this is a sharp entry point into the Mercedes-Benz ecosystem. Ownership is supported by a comprehensive service network across the UAE, making long-term maintenance straightforward and predictable.

This Car vs Other 2020 CLA250s

With a mileage of 123,000 km, this car aligns perfectly with the GCC average for 6 years of ownership, where typical annual use ranges from 20,000 to 25,000 km due to frequent inter-city travel. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, as it reflects heat more effectively and remains the top-performing resale color in the UAE. It offers a mechanically proven alternative to lower-mileage examples that may have spent more time in stagnant city traffic.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As a CLA250, this trim significantly outperforms the entry-level CLA200 by utilizing a more robust 2.0L turbocharged engine rather than the smaller 1.3L unit. It comes standard with the full MBUX widescreen experience and dual-zone climate control, which are essential for maintaining comfort during intense summer months. These technical upgrades provide a more composed highway experience during long drives across the Emirates.

CLA250 vs Segment Rivals

The CLA250 leads its primary rivals, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and Audi A3, in pure visual drama thanks to its frameless door glass and 'coupe' silhouette. While competitors focus on traditional sedan dimensions, the Mercedes offers a more premium interior environment with its turbine-style vents and superior ambient lighting. Its 221 hp output provides a more responsive feel during highway overtaking compared to the base powerplants found in many entry-level luxury competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the CLA250 averages around 8.7 L/100km, which is efficient for a luxury sedan while handling stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Mercedes-Benz maintains a massive authorized service presence across the GCC, including Gargash and Emirates Motor Company, ensuring parts and expert technicians are always accessible. While European sedans typically see a 12-15% annual depreciation in the GCC, the CLA’s high demand among young professionals helps it retain value better than many peers.

Performance & Capability

The 221 hp turbocharged engine delivers a punchy 0-100 km/h time of 6.3 seconds, providing plenty of confidence for merging onto fast-moving UAE highways like the E11. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is tuned for smooth shifts in comfort mode while offering rapid responses in sport mode. Its front-wheel-drive architecture is perfectly suited for well-paved coastal roads, offering a stable and predictable drive in all weather conditions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a showcase of modern luxury, featuring the standard MBUX interface that allows for intuitive voice and touch control of the vehicle's systems. The powerful dual-zone air conditioning is specifically designed to combat high ambient temperatures, ensuring the 5-seat cabin remains a sanctuary even in July. Premium MB-Tex upholstery provides the look of leather with the durability required to withstand the intense GCC sun without cracking or fading.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes Active Brake Assist and Attention Assist, which are invaluable for staying alert during long desert highway stretches. The vehicle features a comprehensive airbag suite and a high-strength passenger cell that earned top marks in global safety testing. Blind-spot monitoring and a high-definition rearview camera make navigating tight urban parking and fast-moving multi-lane traffic significantly safer.

The bottom line

This CLA250 is the ideal choice for an upwardly mobile professional looking for a modern, tech-rich Mercedes-Benz that is perfectly spec'd for GCC resale and climate.
