Mercedes Benz G63 AMG STANDARD

Highlights

• 530 hp from a 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8
• Hand-built engine
• Low-range transfer case with locking differentials

Summary

This 2021 model represents a distinctive high-performance choice for the GCC buyer, blending the iconic silhouette with the raw character of the 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8 powertrain. At 5 years old with 62,000 km, it has been driven significantly less than the 100,000 km typical for a car of this age in the region. Finished in white, the most coveted resale color in the Middle East, this SUV stands out for its exceptional value retention and classic AMG aesthetics. While most 2021 models globally transitioned to the 4.0L unit, this specific iteration offers a unique proposition for those who prefer the displacement and sound signature of the earlier hand-built engines. It remains the gold standard for prestige, combining effortless highway overtaking with the hardware needed for serious desert terrain.

This Car vs Other 2021 G63 AMGs

While many 2021 examples in the GCC market average 20,000 km per year, this vehicle's 62,000 km total represents a lower-than-average usage profile for its 5 years of age. The white exterior is a major advantage for local resale, as it is the most requested color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia due to its heat-reflective properties. This specific configuration retains the high-displacement feel that many enthusiasts still prefer over newer, smaller-displacement units.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the AMG flagship, this trim provides a handcrafted V8 engine and the high-performance 4MATIC system that lower models like the G500 lack. It includes the distinctive AMG body styling, side-exit exhausts, and upgraded Nappa leather as standard equipment. GCC buyers will particularly value the standard ventilated seats and more robust AMG cooling systems designed for high-performance driving in extreme heat.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 stands apart from rivals like the Range Rover SVR or Lamborghini Urus by utilizing a traditional body-on-frame construction and three independent locking differentials. Its vertical greenhouse provides superior visibility in dense city traffic, while the massive fuel tank supports long-distance drives between Emirates without frequent stops. It offers a level of mechanical off-road hardware that road-biased performance SUVs simply cannot match.

Running Costs & Resale

The G63 AMG historically enjoys the highest value retention of any luxury SUV in the GCC, often depreciating at just 8-12% annually. Service centers are widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended maintenance intervals every 10,000 km. While the 5.5L bi-turbo V8 is built for performance, its widespread use in the region ensures that parts and expert technicians are easily accessible. This Korean spec model offers the same core mechanical components as regional versions, ensuring straightforward maintenance.

Performance & Capability

With 530 hp and a bi-turbo V8, this SUV delivers the explosive acceleration required for confident highway merging and overtaking at speed. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system works in tandem with three 100% locking differentials to provide unparalleled traction on soft sand and gravel. An AMG-tuned adaptive suspension allows the driver to stiffen the chassis for high-speed stability or soften it for comfortable urban cruising. Its high ground clearance and significant wading depth make it as capable in the desert as it is imposing on the road.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of Nappa leather and high-resolution digital displays, featuring the 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit as a centerpiece. Multi-zone climate control is engineered to combat 45°C summer peaks, ensuring all five passengers remain cool even at a standstill. The upright seating position provides an commanding view of the road, while acoustic glass helps isolate the interior from exterior wind and road noise during long desert highway hauls. Premium audio and ambient lighting further enhance the luxury experience for daily commuting.

Safety

This trim features a comprehensive safety suite including Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and a 360-degree camera system to aid in parking the boxy frame. Adaptive cruise control is ideal for the long, straight highways connecting major GCC cities, while electronic stability programs are specifically tuned to manage the vehicle's high center of gravity. Multiple airbags and a rigid ladder-frame chassis provide a high level of passive protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a lower-mileage G63 AMG in the region's best resale color, offering the classic 5.5L engine character that is becoming increasingly hard to find.
