Mercedes Benz G63 AMG STANDARD

Highlights

• Hand-built 4.0L V8 biturbo engine
• Low-range transfer case with three locking differentials

Summary

This 4-year-old G63 AMG stands as one of the most desirable performance SUVs in the GCC, combining its iconic boxy silhouette with 585 hp of hand-assembled power. With mileage under 40,000 km, it has been driven significantly less than the typical 80,000–100,000 km expected for a vehicle of this age in the region. The white exterior is a top-tier choice for the UAE market, ensuring maximum heat reflection during summer and excellent value retention at resale. As a Japanese-spec import, it offers a high-grade interior and a clean mechanical history, though buyers should note the specific cooling requirements for the Gulf's peak summer months. It remains the gold standard for those who want a vehicle that transitions seamlessly from executive city commuting to authoritative highway presence.

This Car vs Other 2022 G63 AMGs

At 37,844 km, this G63 sits well below the GCC average for a 4-year-old vehicle, where 20,000+ km per year is the standard. Its white finish is the most sought-after color in the local market, making it significantly easier to sell later compared to louder or darker shades. While most local examples are GCC-spec, this Japanese import provides a competitive entry point into the G-Class family with a focus on interior preservation.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the flagship AMG variant of the G-Class, this trim adds the hand-built 4.0L V8 biturbo engine, replacing the G500's more modest output with a massive 850 Nm of torque. It features the signature side-exit exhaust system, flared wheel arches, and the AMG-specific Panamericana grille that defines the model's road presence. Inside, it benefits from the Widescreen Cockpit and Nappa leather upholstery as standard, features that are often optional on lower G-Class models.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 holds a unique position against rivals like the Lamborghini Urus and Range Rover Sport SVR by offering genuine off-road hardware, including a ladder-frame chassis and three mechanical locking differentials. While the Urus may offer sharper track-day handling, the G-Wagon leads in cabin headroom and iconic visibility, making it more practical for daily use in fast-moving GCC traffic. Its massive 100-liter fuel tank is also a significant advantage for long-distance desert highway drives between Dubai and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 13.2 L/100km combined, though this can rise in the stop-start traffic of major GCC cities. Mercedes-Benz has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that even as a Japanese-spec vehicle, routine maintenance is easily managed. The G63 enjoys some of the strongest value retention in the luxury segment, typically depreciating slower than its European competitors due to its status as a regional icon.

Performance & Capability

The 585 hp V8 biturbo engine propels this 2.5-ton SUV to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, delivering the explosive highway overtaking power necessary for the UAE's fast-paced road network. Its 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system is rear-biased (40:60) for a more dynamic road feel, yet it maintains 241 mm of ground clearance for off-road excursions. Selectable drive modes allow the driver to soften the suspension for the school run or tighten the chassis for high-speed cruising between emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-seat cabin is insulated with acoustic glass, a vital feature for maintaining cool interior temperatures during the 45°C GCC summers. The dual 12.3-inch screens create a modern digital environment, complemented by a Burmester surround sound system that stays crisp even at highway speeds. Despite its rugged exterior, the interior is finished in premium materials with dedicated rear climate vents to ensure passenger comfort across all rows.

Safety

This G63 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech including Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist, which are particularly valuable on multi-lane highways. The 360° camera system is essential for maneuvering such a large vehicle in tight urban parking spaces, while the high seating position provides superior natural visibility. Stability control systems are specially tuned to handle the vehicle's high center of gravity, providing confidence on both paved roads and sandy surfaces.

The bottom line

This low-mileage G63 is the ideal choice for a buyer looking for the prestige of an AMG icon at a more accessible price point than a GCC-spec equivalent. Its combination of a high-grade Japanese history and the region's favorite color makes it a secure and stylish investment.
