• 3,500 kg braked towing capacity
• Burmester surround-sound system standard

Summary

This seven-seat flagship SUV presents a compelling case for the family buyer looking for S-Class luxury with genuine utility. Given the vehicle age of 5 years, the mileage is well within the expected range for the GCC, where long highway commutes between cities are common. The Grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice that supports strong resale value across the UAE and wider region. As a 4MATIC model, it provides the composed, all-weather grip necessary for both high-speed highway stability and light weekend escapes. This specific trim offers the ideal balance of a smooth six-cylinder powertrain and high-end cabin technology without the aggressive running costs of a V8.

This Car vs Other 2021 GLS450s

With 81,049 km over 5 years, this vehicle has been driven approximately 16,000 km annually, which is notably lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. This lower usage translates to less wear on the air suspension and interior touchpoints compared to similar listings. The Grey metallic finish is particularly practical for the region, as it hides desert dust better than darker shades while maintaining a premium executive appearance.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The 4MATIC nomenclature signifies the fully variable all-wheel-drive system, which is paired with the AIRMATIC air suspension as standard. While lower-tier Mercedes SUVs often feature four-cylinder engines or basic sound systems, this GLS450 includes the 13-speaker Burmester surround-sound and 64-color ambient lighting. It also features the MBUX dual 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit, a significant tech upgrade that remains modern by today's standards.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the BMW X7 or Lexus LX, the GLS leads with its seamless integration of mild-hybrid 'EQ Boost' technology, which smoothes out stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai. Its 90-litre fuel tank provides superior highway range for long cross-border drives compared to many smaller-capacity rivals. The third row is genuinely usable for adults, offering more consistent legroom across all three rows than many in the full-size luxury segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0L inline-six provides a real-world combined fuel consumption of approximately 9.2L/100km, which is efficient for a vehicle of this footprint. Service intervals follow the Mercedes-Benz Service A/B schedule every 15,000 km, with a wide network of authorized centers available in major cities across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While American spec vehicles typically depreciate slightly faster than GCC spec units, the high demand for the GLS model ensures it remains a liquid asset in the used market.

Performance & Capability

The 367 hp engine delivers a 0-100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on 140 km/h motorways. The standard 4MATIC system and adjustable air suspension allow you to increase ground clearance, making it capable of handling gravel tracks and sandy terrain for weekend outings. It also boasts a significant 3,500 kg towing capacity, allowing for the transport of boats or trailers with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout features power-folding second and third rows, making it easy to prioritize cargo or passengers. Standard ventilated front seats and four-zone climate control are essential for maintaining comfort during peak GCC summer months. The acoustic insulation is a highlight, keeping the cabin serene even at high cruising speeds, while the nine USB ports ensure every passenger stays connected on long family road trips.

Safety

This trim includes a comprehensive safety suite featuring a 360-degree camera for navigating tight parking spaces and blind-spot monitoring for fast-moving highway traffic. Active Brake Assist and the Pre-Safe system provide an extra layer of protection by preparing the cabin for a potential collision. The adaptive LED headlights are particularly effective for night driving on unlit desert roads, providing superior visibility and range.

The bottom line

For a GCC-based family needing seven seats and S-Class refinement, this GLS450 offers a lower-mileage opportunity in a highly resilient resale color. It is an excellent choice for those who value cabin technology and long-distance comfort over raw performance.
