Summary

This 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 in the AMG Line trim is a compelling choice for GCC families who prioritize road presence and high-end cabin technology. With its 367 hp mild-hybrid inline-six, it offers the perfect balance between smooth highway cruising and fuel efficiency for long cross-border drives. As a two-year-old vehicle with 28,000 km, its mileage is significantly lower than the GCC average for this segment, where 20,000 km per year is the standard. This white exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the region, ensuring better heat reflection and easier maintenance. For the local buyer, this model stands out for its superior air conditioning performance and a ride quality that handles UAE's diverse road surfaces with ease.

This Car vs Other 2024 GLS450s

At 28,000 km, this vehicle sits comfortably below the expected 40,000–50,000 km typically seen on a two-year-old SUV in the GCC. The American spec provides a high level of standard features, though buyers should ensure all infotainment systems and radio frequencies are updated for the local market. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the Emirates, helping the car retain its value better than darker alternatives.

4M AMG HIGH vs Lower Trims

The AMG Line trim adds significant visual and functional upgrades over the base Premium trim, most notably the 21-inch AMG twin five-spoke wheels and aggressive AMG body styling. Inside, it replaces the standard seats with sportier versions and adds ventilated front cooling, which is an essential feature for the intense GCC summer. You also gain a sport steering wheel and brushed stainless steel pedals, giving the executive cabin a more focused, athletic feel.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLS 450 is often cross-shopped with the BMW X7 and the Cadillac Escalade. While the Escalade offers more raw cargo volume, the Mercedes leads in refined ride quality thanks to its AIRMATIC suspension and the smoothness of its 3.0L inline-six engine. Its MBUX technology suite is widely considered the most advanced in the segment, offering superior natural language voice control that handles climate and navigation tasks effortlessly during long highway stints.

Running Costs & Resale

Expect a real-world combined fuel consumption of approximately 9.4 L/100km, which is competitive for a seven-seater SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. Mercedes-Benz has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with standard service intervals every 15,000 km or 12 months. While European luxury SUVs typically see 12-15% annual depreciation, the GLS 450 remains a popular used market item, specifically in white with the AMG styling package.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L inline-six engine produces 367 hp and 500 Nm of torque, enabling a verified 0-100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds. This power is delivered through a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and fully variable 4MATIC all-wheel drive, providing excellent stability during sudden desert sandstorms or high-speed highway overtaking. The mild-hybrid EQ Boost system provides an extra burst of torque and smoother gear transitions, making it one of the most refined powertrains in its class.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the GLS 450 offers a genuine seven-seat layout with power-folding 50/50 split third-row seats. The four-zone automatic climate control is powerful enough to cool the large cabin quickly after being parked in the sun, while the standard panorama roof features high-quality tinting to minimize heat soak. Passengers enjoy 355 litres of boot space even with all seats up, expanding to a massive 2,400 litres for larger hauls.

Safety

This trim features a comprehensive ADAS suite including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist, which are particularly helpful for maintaining safety on long, straight desert highways. The 360-degree camera system makes parking this 5.2-meter SUV simple in tight city malls. Standard safety tech also includes Active Blind Spot Assist and Pre-Safe Plus, providing multi-layered protection in fast-moving multi-lane traffic.

The bottom line

This is an ideal opportunity for a luxury-seeking family to acquire a low-mileage 2024 GLS in the region's most popular color, offering a significant saving over new while retaining the latest facelift technology.
