Summary

This 2021 MG RX8 Luxury presents a highly competitive family SUV option, balancing low mileage for its age with the highest available trim level. Its Grey exterior is a neutral, practical choice that holds up well against the local sun and remains popular in the GCC used market. As a body-on-frame 7-seater, it offers a level of ruggedness and interior volume that few rivals in its price bracket can match. The Luxury trim is particularly sought after in the UAE for its addition of ventilated seating and advanced parking technology, making it an ideal choice for larger families prioritizing summer comfort and safety. With its current mileage, the vehicle is well within its primary service cycle, suggesting plenty of remaining life for long-distance regional commutes.

This Car vs Other 2021 RX8s

With just 41,995 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen in the GCC. The Grey exterior provides a sophisticated look that hides road dust effectively, a major advantage for resale in this region compared to darker tones. Finding a Luxury trim with mileage this low for a 2021 model year represents a distinct buying advantage in the current market.

LUXURY vs Lower Trims

The Luxury trim elevates the RX8 experience with premium leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and essential GCC climate features like ventilated front seats. It also adds a high-resolution 360-degree camera system and larger 20-inch alloy wheels, which are not standard on the Comfort or Standard trims. This specific trim is the preferred choice for buyers looking for an executive-level cabin feel without the premium price tag of European rivals.

RX8 vs Segment Rivals

The RX8 competes directly with the Toyota Fortuner and Nissan Pathfinder, standing out by offering a more extensive list of standard tech features at a similar price point. Its body-on-frame construction provides better durability for weekend desert adventures than monocoque crossovers, while the 70-litre fuel tank ensures adequate range for long-haul drives between emirates. Unlike many rivals, the RX8 Luxury provides genuine third-row space that can accommodate adults comfortably.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0L turbo engine typically ranges between 9.5 and 11.5 L/100km depending on GCC highway vs city driving splits. MG has established an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with standard service intervals every 10,000 km. While Chinese brands generally face steeper initial depreciation than Japanese mainstays, the RX8 Luxury holds its value remarkably well due to the high demand for affordable 7-seater SUVs in the regional family market.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 2.0L engine delivers a robust 360 Nm of torque, providing reliable power for overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways. Equipped with a real four-wheel-drive system and selectable terrain modes, it is more than capable of handling gravel tracks and light desert dunes during weekend family outings. The automatic transmission is tuned for smooth shifts, ensuring a refined ride quality even when fully loaded with seven passengers.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the extreme GCC summer, featuring a dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents that reach all three rows effectively. Ventilated front seats are a standout luxury feature, providing immediate relief during peak heat months. With all seats in place, the cabin remains quiet thanks to acoustic insulation, making long family road trips across the border a much more relaxed experience.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive in the Luxury trim, featuring front, side, and curtain airbags alongside a suite of active aids. The standard 360-degree camera is invaluable for navigating tight parking spots in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Departure Warning provide extra security on multi-lane highways. Stability control and Hill Descent Control ensure the vehicle remains composed on both slippery city roads and loose sand surfaces.

The bottom line

This MG RX8 Luxury is a prime opportunity for a family buyer seeking a high-spec, low-mileage 7-seater that is fully prepared for the GCC climate and terrain.
