Volkswagen ID.4 Crozz PURE PLUS

Highlights

• 550 km total combined range (NEDC)
• 84.8 kWh battery
• 543 litres boot space

Summary

This 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Crozz Pure Plus is a compelling entry into electric mobility, offering a significant range advantage over the base Pure trim. With 110,000 km over five years, it has been driven regularly across the UAE's highway network, a testament to the model's endurance in the regional heat. The white exterior is the most practical choice for the GCC, reflecting the summer sun and maintaining high resale demand. As a Chinese-spec model, it provides premium ID features at a more accessible price point than European equivalents. For any GCC buyer, the priority is the thermal management of this 84.8 kWh battery, which remains well-suited for inter-emirate commutes.

This Car vs Other 2021 ID.4 Crozzs

With 110,000 km on the odometer, this ID.4 has averaged 22,000 km per year, which is exactly in line with typical GCC annual usage. While some low-mileage imports exist, a car with this history proves its battery and cooling systems are already proven against the local climate. The white paint is a major asset for value retention in the UAE and Saudi markets.

PURE PLUS vs Lower Trims

The Pure Plus trim is the essential upgrade for regional buyers, swapping the smaller 55 kWh battery for the long-range 84.8 kWh pack. It adds features critical for the GCC, including a panoramic glass roof and enhanced interior tech that isn't standard on the base Pure. You also get a significant power bump to 201 hp, making highway overtaking much more confident.

ID.4 Crozz vs Segment Rivals

The ID.4 Crozz leads rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y in cabin ergonomics and ride comfort, utilizing the dedicated MEB electric platform. Its 543-litre boot is more practical for family grocery runs and weekend trips than many compact luxury crossovers. In the UAE market, it stands out for its balance of German engineering quality and competitive pricing through the import channel.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are exceptionally low, with electric charging costing a fraction of petrol for the same distance in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are generous at 20,000 km, primarily requiring cabin filter changes and fluid checks. While this Chinese-spec model does not carry a local manufacturer warranty from Al Nabooda or Ali & Sons, a robust network of independent EV specialists in Dubai and Sharjah provides full diagnostic and repair support.

Performance & Capability

The 201 hp electric motor delivers instant torque, allowing for a smooth and silent 0-100 km/h sprint that feels faster in city traffic than the numbers suggest. With a top speed of 160 km/h, it is perfectly geared for stable cruising on the E11 and E311 highways. The rear-wheel-drive setup provides a tight turning circle, making it surprisingly agile for an SUV in tight urban parking.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the modern family, featuring five spacious seats and a flat floor thanks to the absence of a transmission tunnel. The powerful dual-zone climate control is a necessity for the GCC summer, quickly cooling the interior even after a day in the sun. Standard highlights include the digital ID. Cockpit and a large central touchscreen that handles everything from navigation to vehicle settings.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the ID family, featuring the IQ.Drive suite with adaptive cruise control and forward collision mitigation as standard. Multiple airbags and a high-strength steel body provide peace of mind for family transport. The regenerative braking system adds a layer of safety by slowing the car naturally when lifting off the accelerator, perfect for the stop-start traffic of major GCC cities.

The bottom line

For a buyer looking to switch to electric without the premium price of a local dealer car, this ID.4 Crozz Pure Plus offers the range and spec needed for daily life in the GCC.
