Summary

This 2022 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport is a prime example of the ultimate daily driver for the UAE, combining a powerful 6-cylinder engine with a highly desirable M Sport configuration. With 72,000 km over 4 years, it has been driven slightly less than the typical GCC annual average, making it a fresh and mechanically sound choice. The Alpine White exterior is not just a classic look; it is arguably the best color for heat reflection and resale strength in our market. Compared to the base trim, this M Sport version adds a level of visual aggression and interior refinement that buyers in Dubai and Riyadh actively seek. It offers the perfect balance of prestige and performance without the extreme running costs of the V8 models.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

At 72,000 km, this X5 sits comfortably below the 80,000–100,000 km typically seen on four-year-old SUVs in the GCC. The Alpine White exterior provides a distinct advantage at resale, as it is the most requested color in the region for its superior ability to stay cool under the summer sun.

xDrive40i M Sport vs Lower Trims

The M Sport trim upgrades the standard X5 experience with 20-inch wheels, an M Sport steering wheel, and a more aggressive aerodynamic body kit. Inside, it replaces standard materials with premium leather upholstery and adds M-specific interior touches that command a higher premium on the used market than the base xDrive40i.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE emphasize soft comfort, the X5 leads the segment in driving engagement and steering precision. Its 83-litre fuel tank offers a superior range for cross-emirate drives compared to many smaller-capacity competitors, and its infotainment system remains the most intuitive for GCC drivers.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0-liter turbocharged engine averages approximately 9.3L/100km combined, making it efficient for highway commutes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Being GCC spec ensures it is fully compatible with local service centers and enjoys the strongest possible value retention in the UAE. BMW’s extensive authorized service network across the GCC makes parts and expert maintenance easily accessible.

Performance & Capability

With a 0–100 km/h time of just 5.5 seconds, this X5 offers effortless highway overtaking power. The xDrive four-wheel-drive system provides exceptional stability during sudden desert rainstorms or on gravel surfaces during weekend trips to the mountains. Multiple drive modes, including Sport and Eco Pro, allow you to tailor the chassis response to either heavy city traffic or open highway cruising.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a driver-focused layout with a 12.3-inch digital cockpit and a matching central touchscreen for seamless navigation. High-performance air conditioning and rear climate vents ensure the interior stays cool even during peak summer temperatures. Acoustic insulation keeps the cabin remarkably quiet, even at the high cruising speeds common on UAE motorways.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a comprehensive ADAS suite with Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Monitoring, which are vital for multi-lane highway driving. The X5 carries a 5-star safety rating, supported by a robust airbag system and advanced stability controls designed to handle high-speed emergency maneuvers.

The bottom line

For the executive buyer seeking a perfectly balanced SUV, this low-mileage M Sport X5 offers the ideal mix of performance, high resale color, and GCC-spec peace of mind.
