Summary

This 2022 X5 xDrive40i represents a well-timed purchase in the GCC market, entering its fourth year with mileage that aligns perfectly with the region's higher annual driving averages. The M Sport Pro trim provides a significantly more aggressive aesthetic and sharper handling profile compared to standard models, which is a major factor in maintaining high resale demand locally. The grey exterior is a neutral, high-value choice that resists the extreme GCC sun better than darker shades while remaining highly sought-after in the pre-owned market. Powered by the refined B58 straight-six engine with mild-hybrid assistance, it offers the ideal balance of highway overtaking power and city efficiency for daily commuting between the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

With 76,000 km over 4 years, this vehicle has been driven approximately 19,000 km per year, which is below the 20,000–25,000 km average typical for the GCC region. This makes it a mechanically fresher option than many of its peers in the local market. The grey finish is particularly well-suited for the UAE climate, as it maintains its luster under intense UV exposure and holds a stronger resale value than non-metallic or niche colors.

xDrive40i M Sport Pro vs Lower Trims

The M Sport Pro trim is a significant step up from the standard M Sport, adding high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, an illuminated kidney grille, and upgraded M Sport brakes with blue calipers. Inside, this trim typically includes the Premium and Executive features as standard, such as the heads-up display and the crystal-effect CraftedClarity glass application on the gear selector, which are highly prized by luxury buyers in the Gulf.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The X5 consistently leads rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 in driving dynamics, offering a more car-like feel despite its SUV stature. Its 650-litre boot provides superior practical utility for family road trips, while the BMW iDrive system remains the most intuitive interface for managing navigation and climate control during long highway drives across the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0L mild-hybrid powertrain delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 9.3 L/100km, offering respectable economy for a large luxury SUV in stop-start city traffic. BMW's Condition-Based Service (CBS) system typically triggers maintenance every 10,000 to 12,000 km, and with an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, parts and expert care are readily available. As a GCC-spec model, it retains a value premium of roughly 15-20% over non-regional imports at the three-year mark.

Performance & Capability

A 0–100 km/h time of 5.5 seconds ensures effortless merging onto fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system provides exceptional stability during sudden seasonal rain or on gravel tracks during weekend escapes to the mountains. With 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque, it maintains a composed and powerful presence even when fully loaded with passengers and luggage.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for long-distance refinement, featuring multi-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents to combat the extreme summer heat. Acoustic glazing helps isolate the interior from road noise during high-speed cruising, while the premium materials and digital cockpit create a sophisticated environment. The standard panoramic sunroof adds to the sense of space, although the high-quality electric blind ensures the cabin stays cool during peak daylight hours.

Safety

Equipped with BMW’s Active Driving Assistant, this trim includes blind-spot detection and lane departure warning, which are essential for navigating multi-lane GCC highways safely. The standard 360-degree camera and parking sensors make maneuvering this mid-size SUV into tight city parking spots effortless. It also features a comprehensive airbag system and front collision mitigation as standard, contributing to its high safety standing in the segment.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a premium family SUV that balances athletic performance with daily practicality, this M Sport Pro model is a standout choice that offers the right spec and mileage for the current market.
