Summary

This GCC-spec 2022 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport offers a highly sought-after configuration for the regional market, combining the efficiency of the B58 straight-six engine with the aggressive M Sport styling. With a mileage of 82,130 km over 4 years, it has been driven approximately 20,500 km annually, which sits comfortably within the typical GCC average for a premium family SUV. The Blue exterior is a distinctive choice that maintains solid desirability in the UAE used market, especially when paired with the M Sport body kit and larger wheels. For any GCC buyer, the standard xDrive all-wheel-drive system and the 3.0-litre turbocharged engine provide the perfect balance for high-speed highway cruising between emirates and composed city handling.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

At 82,130 km, this vehicle's mileage is standard for a 4-year-old car in the GCC, where long-distance commutes are regular. Its GCC regional specification ensures the cooling systems and air conditioning are optimized for the extreme local heat, a critical factor for long-term reliability compared to imported versions. The Blue paintwork adds a premium aesthetic that stands out from the common sea of white and silver while retaining strong resale interest.

XDRIVE40i M SPORT vs Lower Trims

The M Sport trim is the most requested package for the X5 in the GCC, adding the Aerodynamic kit, M-specific steering wheel, and high-gloss Shadowline trim that significantly enhances its curb appeal. Unlike the base sDrive models, this xDrive40i features BMW's intelligent all-wheel-drive system as standard, providing superior traction on gravel and during the rare but heavy regional rainstorms. It also typically includes larger 20-inch M light-alloy wheels and upgraded M Sport brakes for improved stopping power on fast-moving highways.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The BMW X5 leads rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 with its focus on driving dynamics and the responsiveness of its 3.0-litre inline-six engine. Its 83-litre fuel tank is one of the largest in the segment, offering a substantial range for cross-border trips to Oman or Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the iDrive 7.0 system remains widely regarded as the most intuitive infotainment interface for GCC drivers who prioritize ease of use while commuting.

Running Costs & Resale

The xDrive40i achieves a combined fuel consumption of approximately 9.2 L/100km, which is efficient for a large SUV in stop-start city traffic. BMW's authorized service centers are widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring consistent maintenance support. As a GCC-spec model with the M Sport package, this car is positioned to hold its value better than base trims, typically seeing a depreciation rate of 12-15% annually in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 300 hp turbocharged 6-cylinder engine propels this SUV from 0–100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, ensuring effortless overtaking on the E11. With a top speed of 243 km/h and standard xDrive, it handles high-speed stability with precision. While not a dedicated off-roader, its 214 mm ground clearance and selectable drive modes make it more than capable of handling sandy tracks and weekend escapes to the desert periphery.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around a dual 12.3-inch screen setup, providing a fully digital experience that stays cool and functional even in peak summer. The five-seat layout offers generous legroom and a 650-litre boot, expandable for large family shopping trips or airport runs. High-quality materials and acoustic insulation ensure the interior remains a quiet sanctuary from the noise of city traffic and high-speed wind.

Safety

This X5 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Frontal Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, and Lane Departure Warning, all essential for navigating busy multi-lane highways. Standard features also include Park Distance Control and a Rear View Camera, making the large SUV easy to manage in tight urban parking spots. The robust BMW safety architecture has earned a 5-star rating, providing peace of mind for family use.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the prestige and performance of a BMW M Sport without the high running costs of a V8, this GCC-spec X5 is a perfectly maintained middle-ground. It represents a smart opportunity to own a modern, tech-forward luxury SUV that is already optimized for the Gulf climate.
