Summary

This 2022 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport is a prime example of the segment-defining luxury SUV, featuring the desirable M Sport package which enhances both its road presence and handling. With a mileage of 87,990 km over 4 years, it has been driven approximately 22,000 km annually, aligning perfectly with the typical high-utilization patterns of the GCC market. The Blue exterior is a sophisticated choice that maintains strong appeal and resale stability in a region often dominated by monochrome tones. Combining a smooth 6-cylinder powertrain with an intelligent all-wheel-drive system, it offers the ideal balance of executive comfort and confident performance for inter-emirate highway travel. For the GCC buyer, the standard inclusion of high-performance cooling and premium interior materials makes this a highly resilient choice for the local climate.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

At 4 years old, this X5 shows average mileage for the GCC, where long-distance commuting is the norm. Unlike American or European imports, this GCC-spec vehicle is factory-optimized for extreme heat, ensuring better cooling efficiency and long-term mechanical health. The Blue paintwork offers a distinctive yet professional look that stands out in the pre-owned market while retaining the liquidity of a premium German SUV.

xDrive40i M Sport vs Lower Trims

The M Sport trim significantly upgrades the standard xDrive40i with more aggressive aerodynamic body styling, high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, and an M Sport steering wheel. Inside, it replaces the base audio with a premium Harman Kardon surround sound system and adds M-specific interior accents. Mechanically, the M Sport package provides a firmer, more athletic suspension tune and upgraded braking hardware, which are highly valued by drivers on the UAE's fast-moving highways.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The BMW X5 leads the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 in driving dynamics, offering a more engaging steering feel and a more intuitive iDrive infotainment system. While rivals focus heavily on soft air-ride comfort, the X5 provides superior high-speed stability, which is essential for frequent travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Its 3.0-litre B58 engine is widely regarded as one of the most reliable and efficient 6-cylinder units in the luxury SUV class.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 9.0–10.5 L/100km, with the 83-litre fuel tank providing substantial range for cross-border journeys. BMW's extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures that maintenance remains straightforward, with standard intervals occurring every 10,000 to 12,000 km. As a GCC-spec xDrive40i, it occupies the 'sweet spot' for value retention, typically depreciating less aggressively than the V8 or Plug-in Hybrid variants in the local market.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six producing 335 hp, the X5 reaches 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, delivering effortless overtaking power. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system provides excellent traction on rain-slicked roads or gravel paths during weekend escapes to the northern emirates. With a top speed of 243 km/h and multiple selectable drive modes, it transitions seamlessly from a refined city cruiser to a capable long-distance tourer.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a masterclass in ergonomics, featuring five-zone-ready climate control and high-quality leather upholstery designed to withstand the GCC sun. Acoustic glazing helps isolate the interior from road noise during high-speed drives, while the dual 12.3-inch displays provide clear navigation and vehicle data. The 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats and 650-litre boot make it a practical choice for families requiring flexible cargo space for golf clubs or staycation luggage.

Safety

Standard safety features include BMW's Active Driving Assistant, which provides blind-spot detection and lane departure warning for safer highway navigation. The X5 is equipped with a 360-degree camera system and parking sensors, making it easy to maneuver in tight city parking structures. Additionally, the standard suite of airbags and stability control systems helped this generation earn a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, offering peace of mind for family use.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a modern, GCC-ready executive SUV that doesn't compromise on driving thrill, this M Sport X5 offers the perfect specification and a transparent mileage history. It represents a smart mid-lifecycle purchase where the steepest depreciation has already passed, yet the technology remains current.
