Summary

This GCC-spec 2022 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport offers a balanced ownership proposition with 87,990 km, which is within the expected range for a four-year-old vehicle in the high-mileage GCC market. Finished in Blue, a stable choice for local resale, this M Sport trim adds significant performance and aesthetic value over the standard xLine. The B58 straight-six engine is widely regarded for its reliability and smooth power delivery, making it ideal for the frequent Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway commutes. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from a cooling system optimized for the extreme local summers and strong support across the region's authorized service networks.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

At 87,990 km, this X5 has been driven roughly 22,000 km per year, which is average for the GCC where highway-heavy use is common. While lower-mileage examples exist, this vehicle represents a mechanical sweet spot where major early depreciation has already occurred, offering a lower entry price for a modern G05 generation SUV. The Blue exterior is a professional, neutral choice that remains popular in the secondary market, ensuring consistent liquidity compared to niche colors.

xDrive40i M Sport vs Lower Trims

The M Sport trim is the most sought-after configuration in the UAE, upgrading the standard xLine with M Aerodynamic body styling, 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, and M Sport brakes. Inside, this trim typically features the premium Harman Kardon surround sound system and an M Sport steering wheel, features that local buyers prioritize. Unlike the base sDrive models often found in other markets, this xDrive40i includes BMW's intelligent all-wheel-drive system as standard, providing superior stability during rare rain events or on gravel tracks.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The BMW X5 leads the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 in driving engagement, largely due to the award-winning B58 engine and ZF 8-speed transmission pairing. With a standard 83-litre fuel tank, the X5 offers a generous highway range, reducing the need for frequent stops during long-distance cross-border drives. While the Q7 offers a larger third row, the X5 provides a more focused cockpit and intuitive iDrive 7.0 interface, which many GCC drivers find more user-friendly in heavy traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the xDrive40i averages approximately 9.0 to 11.0 L/100km depending on the mix of city and highway driving. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km or 12 months, with a well-established network of authorized centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. In the GCC market, high-spec M Sport models retain their value better than base trims, typically depreciating at a rate of 12-15% annually after the initial three-year period.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six produces 300 horsepower (or up to 335 hp in certain regional tunes), enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 5.5 seconds. This provides effortless overtaking power on 140 km/h UAE highways, even when the vehicle is fully loaded. The xDrive system and multiple drive modes—including Sport and Eco Pro—ensure the X5 remains composed on varied surfaces from smooth asphalt to coastal sand tracks.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for high-temperature climates, featuring a powerful multi-zone climate control system and high-quality leather upholstery. A large 12.3-inch digital cockpit and matching central touchscreen provide seamless navigation and smartphone integration. Acoustic glazing and superior insulation keep the interior quiet, protecting passengers from both the exterior heat and highway road noise during long Emirati summers.

Safety

This X5 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Frontal Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, and Lane Departure Warning, which are essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic. The xDrive system provides mechanical safety through intelligent torque distribution, while the 360-degree camera system and parking sensors make maneuvering this large SUV in tight urban parking structures effortless.

The bottom line

This 2022 M Sport is the ideal choice for an executive or family buyer looking for the prestige of the G05 generation with a proven GCC pedigree. It offers the perfect mix of performance and regional suitability, representing a secure purchase before the vehicle enters a higher-mileage bracket.
