Summary

This 2022 BMW X7 M50i represents the pinnacle of the model's performance range before the 2023 facelift, pairing a high-output V8 with a six-seat luxury configuration. Its white exterior is a top-tier choice for the GCC market, maximizing heat reflection and maintaining strong resale demand across the region. With mileage reflecting typical highway use between major GCC cities, the vehicle remains mechanically robust and well-suited for long-distance desert commuting. The M50i trim adds a level of dynamic character and high-end cabin tech that base models cannot match, making it a standout choice for those who value both pace and passenger comfort. For the GCC buyer, the standard GCC specification ensures cooling systems and warranties are fully compatible with local authorized service networks.

This Car vs Other 2022 X7s

At roughly 94,800 km, this X7 has been driven in line with typical GCC annual averages, where long-distance highway trips between Emirates or across borders are standard. The white exterior provides a significant advantage for local resale value and cabin temperature management during summer. While many X7s in the market are standard seven-seaters, this M50i features the more exclusive six-seat layout, which is highly preferred for executive and family comfort.

M50i vs Lower Trims

The M50i trim transforms the X7 from a luxury cruiser into a performance powerhouse, replacing the standard inline-six with a 4.4L V8 and adding M Sport brakes with blue calipers. Inside, it upgrades the experience with multi-contour leather seats, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and a head-up display as standard equipment. It also features soft-close doors and gesture control, premium technologies that are often expensive options on the xDrive40i.

X7 vs Segment Rivals

The X7 M50i leads rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLS and Audi Q7 in pure driving engagement, utilizing its M-tuned suspension for superior handling on fast-moving highways. Its 83-litre fuel tank provides a generous cruising range, essential for the long drives between cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh. The inclusion of genuine second-row captain chairs offers a more lounge-like experience than the bench seating found in many competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the M50i averages approximately 12.8 L/100km in combined cycles, though GCC city traffic may see figures closer to 15.6 L/100km. Service intervals are managed by BMW’s Condition Based Service system, typically alerting owners every 10,000 to 12,000 km, with a strong authorized service network available throughout the UAE and wider GCC. The M50i holds its value well in the local market, benefiting from the high demand for GCC-spec V8 luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

With a 0–100 km/h time of just 4.7 seconds, this SUV offers sports-car acceleration that makes highway overtaking effortless and safe. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system and a 221 mm ground clearance ensure confident handling on diverse surfaces, from well-paved coastal roads to gravel tracks. Standard two-axle air suspension allows for adjustable ride height, improving entry for passengers and stability at high cruising speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The six-seat configuration includes electric captain chairs in the second row, providing superior legroom and individual comfort for rear passengers. The four-zone automatic climate control is specifically engineered to handle extreme GCC temperatures, ensuring rapid cooling for all three rows. Acoustic glass and premium leather upholstery create a quiet, insulated environment, shielding occupants from both outside heat and road noise during long-distance travels.

Safety

The 2022 X7 M50i comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including a 360° surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning, which are vital for multi-lane GCC highway driving. Adaptive LED headlights enhance visibility during night drives through unlit desert stretches, while forward-collision warning and emergency braking provide an essential layer of protection in dense city traffic.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec X7 M50i is the ideal choice for a buyer seeking the ultimate balance of V8 performance and six-seat luxury, backed by the best resale color and specification for the region.
