Summary

This 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat offers a future-proof transition into electric mobility without sacrificing the legendary F-Series utility. With a 4-year-old profile and 85,600 km, its mileage sits slightly above the local average for an early-adopter EV but remains competitive given its robust powertrain and dual-motor AWD system. The Blue exterior is a striking, high-visibility choice that holds its appeal well in the secondary UAE market compared to standard white or silver trucks. As the Lariat trim, it introduces premium cabin refinements that make it a dual-purpose vehicle, equally suited for heavy-duty tasks and comfortable family school runs. For GCC buyers, the standout advantage is the massive "Mega Power Frunk," providing 400 liters of secure, cooled storage for groceries or gear away from the desert heat.

This Car vs Other 2022 F-150 Lightnings

At 85,600 km, this Lightning has seen steady highway use, which is common in the UAE for commuters traveling between Emirates. While high for some international markets, this mileage is consistent with a vehicle age of 4 years in the GCC, where the lack of complex moving engine parts makes high-mileage EVs a safer bet. The Blue paintwork is a sought-after alternative to typical commercial colors, ensuring better curb appeal and solid resale potential.

LARIAT STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The Lariat trim is a significant jump over the XLT, most notably upgrading the interior to full leather-trimmed upholstery with heated and ventilated front seats—an essential feature for the UAE summer. It also swaps the standard 12-inch screen for a massive 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen running SYNC 4A and adds the premium 8-speaker B&O sound system. Practical additions include a power-sliding rear window and a power tailgate, features that GCC buyers value for both luxury and convenience.

F-150 Lightning vs Segment Rivals

The F-150 Lightning leads rivals like the Rivian R1T and Hummer EV in familiar usability, sharing its cabin and bed dimensions with the standard F-150 for easy accessory compatibility. Its 9.6kW Pro Power Onboard system allows it to act as a mobile generator, capable of powering tools or camping setups in remote desert locations. The flat-load floor in the rear and the massive front trunk provide more versatile cargo solutions than almost any internal combustion competitor.

Running Costs & Resale

Operating costs are significantly lower than a petrol V8 F-150, especially with the UAE's expanding DEWA and private charging infrastructure. As an American spec vehicle, it is important to verify local service compatibility, though Ford's authorized network in the UAE is extensive and equipped to handle EV maintenance. Resale for the Lightning remains strong due to high demand for electric trucks, though American spec units may depreciate slightly faster than GCC-native models.

Performance & Capability

The dual-motor setup delivers an instant 452 hp and a massive 1,051 Nm of torque, allowing for effortless 0–100 km/h sprints in the mid-4-second range. It handles highway overtaking with ease and maintains composure on gravel or sand tracks thanks to its independent rear suspension. The 3,492 kg towing capacity ensures you can haul jet skis or trailers across the Emirates without breaking a sweat.

Comfort & Cabin

The Lariat cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring dual-zone automatic climate control and an acoustic windshield that keeps the interior remarkably quiet at highway speeds. The ventilated leather seats are a game-changer for GCC summers, and the flat-folding rear bench offers massive interior storage space for sensitive items. Connectivity is seamless with a wireless charging pad and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto as standard.

Safety

Standard safety tech includes the Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 suite, featuring Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Cross-Traffic Alert, and Lane-Keeping System to handle fast-moving highway traffic. It also features a 360-degree camera, providing a top-down view that makes parking this large pickup in tight city spaces much simpler. Automatic emergency braking and eight airbags provide comprehensive protection for all five occupants.

The bottom line

Perfect for the tech-forward professional or family looking for a rugged, zero-emissions workhorse that excels in the UAE's urban and coastal environments.
