Summary

This 2022 Nissan Patrol Super Safari represents a unique opportunity to own a legendary off-road icon in its most sought-after mechanical configuration. With mileage significantly below the GCC annual average for a vehicle of this age, it offers the mechanical freshness usually reserved for newer models. The combination of the classic 4.8L inline-six engine and a manual transmission is a rarity in the modern market, making it a highly collectible choice for purists across the region. In the GCC, the Super Safari is more than just an SUV; it is a cultural staple known for its unmatched desert performance and rugged reliability. The black exterior is a high-demand color that ensures excellent resale value, especially when paired with the premium Super Safari trim. For a buyer looking for a vehicle that can navigate the dunes of Liwa on Friday and the city streets of Dubai on Monday, this manual Patrol is the ultimate expression of durability. It stands out in a market saturated with automatic crossovers by offering a raw, mechanical connection to the road that is increasingly difficult to find.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

When compared to other 2022 models currently available in the GCC, this vehicle stands out due to its remarkably low mileage of just 38,000 km. While the average GCC driver covers between 20,000 and 25,000 km annually, this car has been driven roughly half that amount, indicating it has likely been treated as a secondary vehicle or a weekend cruiser. This lower-than-average usage means the mechanical components, particularly the manual gearbox and the heavy-duty suspension, have seen far less wear and tear than typical examples. The black paintwork is a significant asset in the local market, as it remains one of the top three most desirable colors for resale alongside white and silver. Choosing a low-mileage GCC-spec unit over higher-mileage alternatives provides peace of mind regarding the engine's long-term longevity and ensures the interior remains in pristine condition. This specific listing offers the rare advantage of a near-new driving experience in a model year that often sees high highway usage across the Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The Super Safari trim is the pinnacle of the Y61 platform, offering a level of refinement and iconic styling that lower trims like the Safari or hardtop variants cannot match. This trim introduces the signature two-tone aesthetics and unique fender flares that have defined the model for decades in the GCC. Inside, the Super Safari replaces basic utility with premium touches such as wood-grain trim, high-quality leather upholstery, and a power-adjustable driver's seat, which are essential for comfort during long desert expeditions. It also features a more advanced climate control system specifically designed to handle the extreme 45°C+ temperatures of the Gulf summer, ensuring rapid cabin cooling for all passengers. While lower trims are often stripped back for commercial use, the Super Safari is built for the private owner who demands both ruggedness and executive-level features. Most importantly, it includes the electric winch and rear pintle hook as standard, equipment that is often an expensive aftermarket addition on base models.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Nissan Patrol Super Safari occupies a unique niche in the SUV segment, primarily competing with the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series and the Jeep Wrangler. While the Land Cruiser 70 Series offers similar legendary reliability, the Patrol Super Safari provides a significantly more comfortable interior and better high-speed stability on GCC highways. Compared to the Jeep Wrangler, the Patrol offers a much larger cabin and a superior cooling system that is better adapted to the sustained extreme heat of the region. The Patrol’s 4.8L engine is famous for its torque delivery, which makes it a superior choice for heavy sand driving compared to the smaller displacement engines found in many modern rivals. Additionally, the long-wheelbase five-door configuration provides ample boot space for camping gear, making it a more practical family adventure vehicle than two-door competitors. In the context of the GCC, the Patrol’s established reputation for cooling efficiency and parts availability gives it a distinct edge over American or European off-roaders.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a Nissan Patrol Super Safari in the GCC is one of the safest financial decisions a car buyer can make, as this model experiences some of the lowest depreciation rates in the global automotive market. It typically holds its value much better than European luxury SUVs, losing only about 8-10% of its value annually compared to the 15-20% seen in other brands. The fuel consumption is reflective of its powerful 4.8L engine, performing best during steady-speed highway cruising across the Emirates, while city driving in heavy traffic will naturally see higher consumption. Service intervals are straightforward and affordable, with a massive network of authorized Nissan service centers available from Muscat to Riyadh, ensuring expert care is never far away. Parts are incredibly abundant and reasonably priced, which keeps long-term maintenance costs significantly lower than its rivals. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it retains the highest possible resale appeal, as local buyers prioritize the cooling and filtration upgrades standard on regional models. This car’s status as a manual transmission Super Safari further protects its value, as these specific configurations are highly coveted by collectors and off-road enthusiasts.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this vehicle is the 4.8L inline-six VTC engine, a powerplant legendary in the GCC for its tunability and raw strength. Delivering 200 hp and significant torque, this engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission that puts total control in the driver’s hands—a vital feature for technical dune climbing and navigating soft sand. The genuine four-wheel-drive system includes a low-range transfer case and a rear differential lock, providing the mechanical grip necessary to conquer the most challenging terrains in the region. With one of the highest ground clearances in its class, the Super Safari easily clears obstacles that would stop modern 'soft-roaders' in their tracks. It is also an exceptional towing platform, capable of hauling heavy trailers or jet ski racks across the desert with ease. On the highway, the long wheelbase ensures a planted and stable ride, making the long journey between Abu Dhabi and Dubai comfortable and effortless even at cruising speeds. This car is engineered for the enthusiast who views the desert as their playground and needs a machine that will never falter.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Super Safari balances its rugged exterior with a cabin designed for long-distance GCC travel. The five-seat layout provides generous legroom and headroom for all occupants, making it an ideal choice for family road trips or transporting friends on a weekend adventure. The air conditioning system is widely regarded as one of the most powerful in the industry, featuring dedicated vents that ensure the entire cabin remains an oasis of cool even when outside temperatures peak. The leather-trimmed seats are designed for durability and support, resisting the wear and tear associated with sand and dust. Modern conveniences like a touchscreen infotainment system and a rear-view camera have been integrated to make daily city driving as easy as off-road exploration. Cabin insulation has been specifically tuned to minimize wind noise during high-speed highway drives, allowing for clear conversation or enjoyment of the premium audio system. Every element of the interior reflects a focus on utility and longevity, ensuring it remains functional and attractive for years to come.

Safety

Safety in the Nissan Patrol Super Safari is built upon a high-strength body-on-frame construction that provides a robust protective shell for all passengers. It comes equipped with dual front airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) that is calibrated for both paved roads and loose gravel surfaces. For the GCC driver, the inclusion of Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is a critical feature, ensuring stable braking performance when the vehicle is fully loaded with camping gear or passengers. The wide track and specialized suspension geometry provide a stable footprint, reducing the risk of rollover during sudden maneuvers on highway stretches. Visibility is a key safety advantage, as the high seating position and large glass area allow the driver to monitor fast-moving traffic and desert obstacles with ease. Unlike many modern SUVs with complex electronic sensors that can fail in extreme heat, the Patrol relies on proven mechanical safety and heavy-duty components that offer consistent protection in the harshest environments on earth.

The bottom line

This manual 2022 Nissan Patrol Super Safari is the perfect choice for the purist who demands an authentic off-road experience without sacrificing the reliability of a low-mileage, modern GCC-spec vehicle. It is a rare find that combines legendary mechanical heritage with the peace of mind of a late-model car, making it a rock-solid investment for any enthusiast in the region.
