GMC Yukon AT4 / GCC Specs

Highlights

• Selectable terrain modes including Off-Road and Terrain
• 91-litre fuel tank standard
• 722 litres of boot space with third row active

Summary

This GCC-spec SUV offers a rugged alternative to standard family cruisers, featuring the off-road focused trim that adds significant presence and capability. While the mileage is higher than average for its age, it represents a well-traveled highway workhorse that remains mechanically robust for long-distance regional touring. The black exterior is a perennial favorite for resale in the GCC, ensuring it holds its value better than more niche colors. It bridges the gap between a daily school-run vehicle and a serious weekend explorer, making it a versatile choice for active families in the UAE.

This Car vs Other 2022 Yukons

With 167,000 km, this vehicle has seen more highway use than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the UAE market. However, these high-mileage GCC examples are often preferred for their proven reliability on long-distance hauls across the Emirates. The black-on-black aesthetic is the most sought-after combination for resale in the local market.

AT4 vs Lower Trims

The AT4 trim significantly upgrades the standard SUV with a unique front fascia for better approach angles and red recovery hooks that are essential for desert recovery. Inside, it adds perforated leather seating with exclusive brandy accents and a 12-inch digital driver information center that isn't standard on base SLE models. It also features standard four-wheel drive and specialized all-terrain tires designed for regional gravel and sand tracks.

Yukon vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol and Toyota Land Cruiser, the Yukon offers a massive 91-litre fuel tank that is perfectly suited for long desert highway drives between Dubai and Riyadh. It leads the segment in third-row legroom, providing a genuinely usable space for adults that many monocoque rivals cannot match. The 10-speed automatic transmission provides smoother shifts on the highway than the older gearboxes found in some competing models.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption for the 5.3L V8 typically averages around 15.6 L/100km in combined GCC driving conditions, reflecting the start-stop traffic of major cities. GMC maintains a strong authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended intervals every 12,000 km. While American brands generally depreciate slightly faster than Japanese rivals, the AT4 trim maintains a strong 65% value retention after three years due to its high local demand.

Performance & Capability

The naturally aspirated V8 provides 519 Nm of torque, which is essential for low-speed maneuvering through soft sand dunes. Its selectable four-wheel-drive system includes a two-speed transfer case, allowing for dedicated low-range crawling during technical off-road sections. On the highway, the 400 hp output ensures confident overtaking even when fully loaded with seven passengers and gear.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for the extreme heat of the Gulf, the cabin features a powerful tri-zone climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows. The 7-seat configuration provides ample shoulder room, while the acoustic-laminated windshield keeps the interior quiet during high-speed cruising. Premium leather-appointed seats and the 10.2-inch infotainment screen create a sophisticated environment for both driver and passengers.

Safety

This trim includes a comprehensive safety suite with Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Alert standard. For highway driving, the Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Change Alert are vital for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic. The 360-degree camera system makes parking this large SUV in tight city malls significantly easier, providing a high-definition view of all surroundings.

The bottom line

This Yukon is the ideal match for a family that prioritizes rugged style and off-road hardware without sacrificing the highway comfort required for regional travel. It is a solid opportunity to own a high-spec GCC vehicle that is already set up for desert adventures.
