Summary

This 2022 Hyundai Elantra SMART is a standout choice in the GCC used market, offering a balanced profile of efficiency and modern design. At 4 years old with 65,000 km, its mileage reflects typical highway-heavy regional use and suggests a well-exercised engine ideal for daily commuting between Emirates. The Blue exterior remains a solid choice for the Middle East, balancing aesthetic appeal with heat management. Compared to its rivals, the Elantra offers a more aggressive, aircraft-cockpit-inspired interior that feels generations ahead of traditional budget sedans. Reliable and cost-effective, it remains one of the most practical ownership propositions for drivers in the UAE and wider GCC.

This Car vs Other 2022 Elantras

With 65,000 km on the odometer, this Elantra sits comfortably at the average for a 4-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where annual distances often reach 20,000 km or more. The Blue exterior is a refreshing alternative to the standard white or silver while still maintaining respectable resale demand in the local market. Its mechanical history at this mileage suggests it has passed its initial break-in period and is ready for long-term service.

SMART vs Lower Trims

The SMART trim provides essential upgrades over the base Fleet versions, most notably incorporating more refined interior materials and enhanced tech connectivity. Buyers benefit from a standard 8-inch display that supports wireless smartphone integration, a feature highly valued for navigating Dubai or Riyadh traffic. It also adds key convenience features like rear parking sensors and a more sophisticated multi-function steering wheel that improves the daily driving experience.

Elantra vs Segment Rivals

The Elantra leads its primary rivals, the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sunny, by offering a significantly more modern interior design and superior rear legroom. Its 1.6L powertrain is specifically tuned for efficiency, providing a quieter highway cruise compared to the smaller engines found in entry-level competitors. The boot capacity of 420 litres is particularly generous for a compact sedan, making it more capable for airport runs and family shopping.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a core strength, with real-world GCC consumption averaging around 7.0 L/100km, making it highly economical for long-distance commuting. Hyundai’s authorized service network is one of the most extensive in the region, ensuring parts and maintenance are easily accessible from Abu Dhabi to Muscat. The Elantra historically enjoys strong value retention, typically depreciating at a slower rate than its European counterparts in the Middle East.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6L four-cylinder engine produces a reliable 125 hp, which is perfectly suited for steady cruising on the E11 or other major regional highways. While it focuses on efficiency over raw speed, the automatic transmission is tuned to handle the extreme heat of GCC summers without compromising shift quality. The Front Wheel Drive setup provides predictable handling and stability on both paved city streets and sand-dusted suburban roads.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around a driver-centric layout, featuring intuitive controls and effective air conditioning designed for 45-degree temperatures. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents and ample headroom, ensuring comfort even during long cross-country drives. Insulation from road and wind noise is impressive for the segment, providing a serene environment for all five occupants.

Safety

This Elantra comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including dual front airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) which is vital for safe highway travel in high temperatures. It also features ISOFIX child seat anchors and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard, ensuring a high level of protection for families and commuters alike.

The bottom line

This Elantra is the ideal match for a professional or small family seeking a modern, low-maintenance commuter that holds its value exceptionally well in the local market.
